Destiny 2: What is the Power Cap? (Edge of Fate)
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate resets the Power of every Guardian, so what's the Power cap that everyone needs to reach to be at their strongest?
Players must have completed the final mission in The Edge of Fate: The Message, then players can visit the Altar of Relativity for the Exotic Quest, Graviton Through the Ages.
How to Complete the Graviton Through the Ages Exotic Quest
There are a whopping 15 steps in the Graviton Through the Ages quest, and while most of them can be straightforward (like talking to an NPC at the HUB area), others feature puzzles that can be quite complex and overwhelming. The premise of the quest involves finding weapon pieces through a puzzle, so we've listed each weapon piece in order of appearance to help players finish the quest.
How to Find Weapon Piece #1 (Outer Steppes)
After speaking with Lodi and the Emeritus in Caldera, players will be tasked with locating and obtaining the weapon piece found in the Outer Steppes. For this step, open up the map and fast travel to the top left of the map to reach the Outer Steppes. It's also important to add a waypoint on the Graviton Through the Ages quest to make following the marker much easier. Travel towards the general area until the bottom left of the HUD reads Near Objective. Players will then want to head left of the building with a large metallic antenna, where behind this building is a Rosetta Sentry that needs to be eliminated. Just behind the Rosetta Sentry is a computer panel that can be accessed, which will start the next step to find the lost Department of External Observations weapon piece.
Mark the search area shown on the map and follow the waypoint. In this area, players are looking for Pylons that can be charged with Matterspark. There are 3 Pylons around this area:
- Pylon #1 - Behind the building that houses the weapon piece
- Pylon #2 - On the other side of the vent by Pylon #1
- Pylon #3 - At the bottom of the cliff near Pylon #2, by a teleporter
With the 3 Pylons charged, the door can be opened and players can now interact with a pile on the floor to get the next step. For this part, simply head back to the Emeritus, which will begin the search for the next weapon part.
How to Find Weapon Piece #2 (The Gorge)
After speaking with the Emeritus, set your marker to the bottom left of the map and fast travel to the nearby area, Assimilated Easement. Follow the marker into the Gorge, just be sure to use Mattermorph on any closed walls that block the way, as this location is rather maze-like. From a central room filled with Vex, take the left entry to find a Rosetta Sentry. Behind some metal debris in this area, is a computer terminal that can be activated to acquire the next step to find the lost Department of External Observations weapon piece.
From this room, exit the same way you came in, but take a right to acquire Mattermorph. Immediately enter Matterspark and follow forward into a teleporter. Through the teleporter, take the first left through a hole, and hug the wall on the left to enter a secret room to throw Mattermorph at a wall to get this weapon piece. Alternatively, players can head straight through the tunnel to find a Vex Cyclops, where behind the gap is a cave that can be accessed with Matterspark. In this room is Mattermorph, which players will want to pick up. Use Matterspark to exit the cave and re-enter the original hole, but take a right to access a secret room. In this room, throw a Mattermorph ball at the wall to find the second weapon piece. Now, head back to Caldera and speak with Lodi.
How to Find Weapon Piece #3 (Exile's Accord)
For this weapon piece, set a market found on the far right of the map at Augur's Bethel, and use the fast travel station at Curtilage Divide to follow the marker. From fast travel, head forward into the bottom area and follow the lengthy linear pathway to find a bunch of Fallen in a central room. In this room, head right and then take a left, and then traverse into the train. Through the train is a pipe with an open hatch on the ceiling that players can jump up into, with a Relocator just outside this hatch. Take the Relocator back down the hatch and head to the furthest left pipe to shoot a portal and then exit through a new room. In this room, head all the way to the back and take the portal with Matterspark, then take the second door on the left to find the Rosetta Sentry and the computer terminal that can be interacted with. This begins a new search for yet another lost Department of External Observations weapon piece.
Head out of the terminal room and take a right back to the teleporter room, but players will want to make sure they use Matterspark to teleport into the right portal, noted for being on a wall with a bunch of bulbs and mushrooms. In this room, head forward to the back left of the room to find a Relocator, then use it on the top floor's pipe to teleport into another room, where at the end of this room, is the final weapon piece.
How to Find Weapon Piece #4 (Ionian Campus)
This step is a lot simpler than the others, as all players need to do is eliminate Vex on Kepler. Players must collect Data Fragments from defeated Vex, and the easiest place to do so is in the HUB area. Take a right from the HUB area and interact with a Vex terminal. This will start a Public Event of sorts with no time limit, where Vex will continue to spawn. Players can either rely on these smaller Vex or complete the activity for a mini-boss Vex that drops more Data Fragments. After 100%, players will have the final lost Department of External Observations weapon piece objective, which is around the Ionian Campus area, in the top right of the map.
With the final weapon piece search underway, head to the Ionian Campus and head through the door that is next to a computer terminal. Follow the straightforward path to find a door that's slightly open, barred by lasers. Players can then head outside to find a crane with a Relocator that needs Mattermorph to open. Mattermorph can be found in one of the Ionian Campus' corners within a large red container. Once claimed, throw Mattermorph at the cage to drop the Relocator, then pick up the cannon and use it to shoot through the door to teleport into a room, where the final weapon piece is just on the other side of the teleporter. Now, it's time to speak with Lodi again for the final step.
How to Assemble Graviton Spike Using the Sieve
The Sieve is an activity found on Kepler, but only periodically. This means players will need to check the Kepler map to see when the Sieve is available to play. To the left of Caldera on the map, players can find the timer for the Sieve. Once the activity has begun, head to Caldera's central area and interact with the flag that rises. This puts players into the activity, and the activity is rather simple for players to complete. All players need to get Graviton Spike to complete the Sieve activity, where the final reward chest of the activity will drop Graviton Spike.
How to Get All Intrinsics for Graviton Spike
There are 3 Temporal Manipulation Intrinsic upgrades that players can get for Graviton Spike, and the mechanic is fairly simple, so long as players actually have Graviton Spike. All players need to do is use the Arc bullets of the Graviton Spike to shoot an Arc-covered plant pod, then, when it opens with enough damage, players can switch to the Stasis mode of Graviton Spike to shoot the Stasis Crystal inside. Below is the location of all 3 Intrinsic upgrades for Graviton Spike:
How to Get Intrinsic #1 for Graviton Spike
One Intrinsic for Graviton Spike can be found very close to Caldera. From the spawn of Caldera, head right of the main building to find a hole in the wall that will take players to a small room with one of the flowers that needs to be destroyed. Destroying this flower will stop the fan, which can be accessed to allow players to pick up the collectible for Temporal Manipulation II.
How to Get Intrinsic #2 for Graviton Spike
For this Intrinsic, fast travel to the Curtilage Divide, immediately head to the room on the right. Follow through this room and keep to the right with a path lined with green lights. Players will be in the right area if they have passed the Mission: Transient flag. Keep following the path to take the Relocator and shoot the teleporter pad by the laser wall to teleport into a room that has a flower to be shot with Graviton Spike. Players will then need Mattermorph, which can be found on the platform above and opposite the flower. Use Mattermorph on the roof of the building that had the flower to enter inside and pick up the collectible that houses Temporal Manipulation III.
How to Get Intrinsic #3 for Graviton Spike
Temporal Manipulation IV can be found by fast traveling to Assimilated Easement. Head left and follow the path that houses a train and Mission: Calculus. Follow the train and keep to the path in the Stellar Sink. It's quite a lengthy journey, but eventually there will be a hole by a wall in the bottom right of the Stellar Sink, the same hole players entered for the 2nd weapon piece to get Graviton Spike. Go through with Matterspark. Now, follow this area to the back to find a white door. Enter through the door, and look up in this room for another flower to shoot with Graviton Spike. Underneath the flower is a hole to be entered with Matterspark, where inside is Temporal Manipulation IV.
How to Get All Catalysts for Graviton Spike
There are 4 Catalysts for Graviton Spike, but each of them requires a unique difficulty setting to be enabled, along with a set of puzzles to be completed. This step is quite the collectathon, so here's how to get them all:
How to Get Rapid Hit Refit Catalyst
In order to get Rapid Hit, players must be playing on the Fabled or Mythic world tiers on Kepler. This catalyst has three separate parts, and each of them can be found below:
- Rapid Hit #1 - Head to Exile's Accord and follow the path to the first available left, then take a right into the portal via Matterspark. In this room, head to the back and shoot the flower above with Graviton Spike and enter the room to the right and shoot all three fuses on the wall. Take the Relocator and head up the pipes to reach the back of the map, where players can shoot the Relocator to access a portal that takes them to a collectible for Rapid Hit #1.
- Rapid Hit #2 - Head to the Outer Steppes and keep to the left path. Follow this long path to reach an open door with red lights inside, and then take a right. In this central area is a Rosetta machine to be destroyed. One is found against a rock wall by the weather balloon, and the other is on the roof of the central building. Follow past the weather balloon on the left and use Graviton Spike to disable the fan and access the terminal to grab Rapid Hit #2 inside.
- Rapid Hit #3 - Head to Singularity through the open door at the HUB area by following the linear path. Take a right when you find the fighting Vex and use the hole in the floor with Matterspark, then the next hole in the floor, which is just a drop after. In this room is a bunch of lasers, and on a platform is a Vex structure to be destroyed. Head through another hole to grab the Reolactor and shoot the Relocator Relay to teleport next to Mattermorph, which can be used to access the next room. The back right of this room has a Graviton Spiek flower, and once destroyed, head below the plant and to the right to find the final Rapid Hit Refit piece.
Stay in the area where you found the third part to begin the Subsistence catalyst's first part.
How to Get Subsistence Catalyst
Subsistence also requires the Fabled or Mythic difficulty, and here's how to get all three parts to unlock the catalyst:
- Subsistence #1 - In the Singularity, where players got Refit #3, head to the right room past the Vex Cyclops into the open wall on the left. Follow through this small room to find a Graviton Spike plant and carry forward to find this part.
- Subsistence #2 - Head to Exile's Accord. Immediately from the fast travel area, take the teleporter with Matterspark, and then take the next teleporter. From here, head into the train and follow the path on the train track to the right to find a Relocator at the eventual back left. With this device, drop it in the middle by the fan, and then use the Graviton Spike on the flower to slow the fan, then shoot inside with the Relocator. The portal pad is found to the right and then the left, and inside is another part.
- Subsistence #3 - This part is found in the Outer Steppes. Follow the path that requires Mattermorph to the right and continue on the path. You will eventually need to jump through some pipes into a large reactor room, where you will then take the white door on the right and continue on the path. Take the Mattermorph here and hit the rock wall, then with the Relactor in this area, travel the Mattermorph path and shoot the portal to enter another room. Inside this room at the back is another Relocator, and opposite that is Mattermorph. Throw Mattermorph at the glowing wall and then shoot the Relocator at the starting point to activate the portal to find a Vex Pylon that can be charged with Matterspark. This will deactivate a barrier, and now players can head to the back of this area to find a Graviton Spike flower, with an accessible fan with the final Subsistence Refit part.
How to Get Transcendent Zen Catalyst
Transcendent Zen can only be obtained on the Mythic difficulty, and here's where to find all 3 parts for the catalyst:
- Transcendent Zen #1 - From Caldera, head around the central building from the right to find a plant by the cliffside. Shoot this plant with Graviton Spike to find a room with a Rosetta machine, and then activate the door closest to the machine to kill a hostile Fallen. After, activate the door to the left of that one to shoot another Rosetta machine, and input the command at the central terminal. This opens a door for the first part of this catalyst.
- Transcendent Zen #2 - At the Aionian Campus, head past the flower into the portal with Matterspark. Take the first right and follow the caverns past the Vex to find a Graviton Spike plant on the ceiling. Destroy it and head through the fan to get Mattermorph, then head out and behind the plant to a large room with another plant. The vent is to the right of this plant, and Mattermorph is needed to get inside, so open that and then pick up this part.
- Transcendent Zen #3 - Head to Caldera and enter the portal underneath the main room to travel to the Assimilated Easement. Keep to the left path for this lengthy journey to reach the Singularity. Continue forward and then take a left where the Vex are fighting for Mattermorph, and then follow the left path to shoot Mattermorph and then go through the pipes for a safe exit. Continue on the path upwards to find another hole in the wall in a building, where a Graviton Spike plant can be shot to slow the fan underneath. Enter the fan and head down the room to fight a large Fallen boss. At the end of this room is the next part.
Stay in the area where you found the third part to begin the Temporal Alignment catalyst's first part.
How to Get Temporal Alignment Catalyst
Temporal Alignment can only be obtained in the Mythic world tier, and here's how to get all 3 parts:
- Temporal Alignment #1 - In the same room where players fought the Fallen boss for the Transcendent Zen catalyst, head back up the elevator and shoot the plant in the middle with Graviton Zen to disable the fan and exit. There's a portal here for Matterspark, and through it, players can keep to the right to find a large room. Head up the platform on the left and follow the rooftops over to reach the forward path below, where a terminal can be accessed at the very back. With this terminal online, head back to the first rooftop to find a Graviton Zen plant on the left, and then an open room near the ceiling that holds this part.
- Temporal Alignment #2 - Head to the Gorge and follow the path forward. Take the second left and follow through the area with Matterspark, then climb the rocky structures upwards as you make your way forward. Climb all the way to the top and glide to the back of a Vex structure for a Relocator. To the right of the portal is a Graviton Zen plant that can be shot, so do so and then immediately grab the Relocator and run towards the plant into the cave below, where players can shoot through the slow-moving fan to activate the portal and enter through for this part, found in the back corner.
- Temporal Alignment #3 - From Caldera, head left to find a Graviton Zen plant. Shoot it and access the fan. Inside is an accessible area with Matterspark, and at the end of the tunnel is a collectible piece for this catalyst.
