Upgradable armor is the star of the show when it comes to Destiny 2's yearly Solstice event. The fancy new sets players get for free here aren't just for show—they are completely practical when it comes to min-maxing Guardians as players can reroll each piece to have the perfect set of stats they need for a build.
At the same time, this upgrade process improves the visuals of these armor sets, making them some of the most unique-looking pieces a Destiny 2 player can have in their wardrobe. Getting these practical and aesthetic upgrades is fairly easy, though players are going to have to sink a bit of time into the Solstice event itself if they want to get the set they're looking for.
Destiny 2 Solstice: How to Upgrade Armor
Upgrading Solstice armor is pretty straightforward:
- Collect Silver Leaves
- Convert Silver Leaves into Silver Ash in Bonfire Bash
- Acquire Kindling
- Insert Kindling and Silver Ash into Solstice armor
First, players need to finish the short introductory quest given by Eva Levante at the Tower. It includes a brief rundown of how the event works by chucking Guardians straight into the European Aerial Zone in a Bonfire Bash activity. Here, players simply need to beat enemies and throw glowing balls into the giant, paracausal bonfire until a bigger enemy spawns.
Completing a Bonfire Bash activity converts all Silver Leaves in the player's inventory into Silver Ash, which is used to reroll armor pieces. Before this, players need to insert Kindling into their armor pieces first.
Kindling is another special event currency that can only be obtained by completing Event Card challenges. These challenges are fairly simple as well, and most of them can be done while grinding Bonfire Bash.
Once Kindling and Silver Ash are acquired, inspect a desired Solstice armor piece and hover over their last two mod slots. The slot for Kindling will have three options: Small Kindling, Large Kindling, and Fully Rekindled. Each represents one reroll instance. Once an armor piece is Rekindled, all Solstice armor pieces in that same slot will be Rekindled as well. Fully Rekindling an armor piece will make it glow.
To reroll an armor piece, players must imbue it with Embers by spending Silver Ash. Hover over the sixth mod slot to see this option. Players can only reroll an armor piece three times before it becomes locked out. The third reroll of any Fully Rekindled armor piece will let players focus on which stat they want the armor piece to have. This stacks with Ghost Armorer mods.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
