Summary
- A Destiny 2 player created Overwatch 2 Deadman-inspired costume with Hunter armor pieces and The Last Word hand cannon.
- Julicious's accurate Cassidy costume includes the TM-Earp hat, Braytech chest piece, and Competitive Spirit mask.
- Lucky Pants exotic leg pieces boost hand cannon performance, completing the cowboy-themed outfit.
A clever Destiny 2 player brought a touch of Overwatch 2's resident cowboy to The Last City with a customized costume based on Cassidy. The character was brought to life in an entirely different game thanks to the careful selection of Destiny 2 Hunter Guardian armor pieces, particularly a unique class item.
A member of the Overwatch playable roster since the original game's launch in 2016, Cassidy is one of the franchise's most recognizable characters. Even after multiple reworks of his abilities and being renamed entirely from his launch identity, players still acknowledge Cassidy's iconic status, particularly his cowboy-inspired combat style, which focuses on the Overwatch 2 hero's lethal Deadeye ultimate move.
Such was the case with the custom costume assembled by Destiny 2 player Julicious, who submitted their Cassidy-inspired Hunter outfit with nothing more than the title "12pm." Destiny 2 players instantly recognized the reference to Cassidy's ultimate catchphrase, which has him uttering that "it's high noon" before unleashing his Deadeye.
Destiny 2 Cole Cassidy Costume Brings Overwatch Flair to The Last City
The customized Destiny 2 Cole Cassidy costume used multiple cowboy-inspired Hunter armor pieces to replicate the character's default design. Key to the entire ensemble is the distinctive TM-Earp Custom Cloaked Stetson class item, obtained from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon in Destiny 2. Unlike other Hunter cloaks, which typically incorporate a hood, the TM-Earp consists of two separate pieces: a cape with a high collar and a Tex Mechanica-branded shoulder pack, and a broad-brimmed leather cowboy hat. The hat and cape gain an orange-red sheen from the Ablaze color shader.
Cassidy's brass-plated chest armor, armored left arm, and left shoulder-covering red poncho are emulated by a clever combination of the Braytech Combat Vest chest piece and the First Ascent Grips arm pieces, both colored with the Pomegranate Gloss shader. The shader adds a shiny yellow tint to the Hunter's torso, while turning the cloth portions bright red. Meanwhile, the chest piece and shoulder pad merge silhouettes to resemble a single full cloth covering. The Guardian's face was entirely covered by the Competitive Spirit mask from the 2019 Guardian games event and colored in Gambit Suede. The move to cover the Guardian's face was of little consequence, given that no player Guardians in Destiny 2 have beards, so Cassidy's facial hair would be impossible to replicate accurately.
Fellow players praised Julicious' costume for its accuracy and clever, cowboy-themed design choices, which included the use of Destiny 2's The Last Word Exotic hand cannon that allows players to fire rounds off like Cassidy using his Deadeye. Similarly, the costume also incorporates the Lucky Pants exotic leg pieces, using the Deep Pockets ornament colored with the Canis Coat shader. Lucky Pants are also particularly cowboy-themed, as their benefits heavily boost the performance of hand cannons.
