The Mountaintop used to be a unique reward from the Crucible in Destiny 2, but as of the Into The Light update, players can now get their own breech-loading mini-rocket launcher in a pure PvE activity. It's still the same weapon as before, though it did get a few new tricks up its sleeve.

While the Mountaintop isn't like Destiny 2's other Grenade Launchers, it now has a few special offerings that players won't find anywhere else. If you're wondering what perk combos are good for this weapon, here's a guide to help you out.

Any combination of the perks listed above can yield a decent Mountaintop for their respective game modes.

Before explaining the perks, take note that the intrinsic frame trait on this version of the Mountaintop deals less self-damage, effectively allowing players to rocket jump with it. If you stack enough Sticky Grenades on top of each other, you can send yourself hurtling through maps at great speeds. It can be combined with Destiny 2's Sword Skating technique to achieve even greater speeds.

The Mountaintop is a good weapon for clearing adds and bursting down yellow bar enemies in PvE. For those who like swapping between weapons, this gun has the tried-and-true Auto-Loading Holster perk on its third column that make it an excellent pick for hot-swapping, especially when paired with the Recombination or Harmony perks. If you're more worried about chaining kills, Ambitious Assassin and One For All make for a stellar combo. The former lets you load two grenades at a time as long as you score at least one kill, while the former greatly boosts your damage output after hitting three enemies within a short period of time.

Destiny 2: 5 Tips And Tricks For Onslaught

Onslaught is the new activity introduced in Destiny 2's Into the Light update. Here are a few helpful tricks to survive the game's new horde mode.

As far as PvP goes, it's best to use the new Mountaintop as a weapon for finishing off injured enemies. Unlike other Grenade Launchers, this one won't kill enemies with a direct hit as it deals only 158 damage. If you're looking for a weapon to one-shot enemy Guardians with, you're better off using one of Destiny 2's Sniper Rifles or Shotguns.

Those who truly want to use the Mountaintop in PvP should get one with max Velocity and Impulse Amplifier. The latter adds a velocity scalar, which will further increase the speed of grenades even if the weapon has a maxed-out Velocity stat. This plus a high Handling stat will make clean-up kills much easier to do.
