Gamers online are sharing their frustrations about the amount of health that the newer bosses in Destiny 2 have. This is a problem that many games suffer from, and the bosses in Destiny 2 are no exception, even six years after release.
Critical reception of the recent Destiny 2 expansion Lightfall was mixed at best, with many feeling it was merely a stop-gap before next year's The Final Shape update. Unfortunately, the story fell flat for many players, and while the quality-of-life changes were strong, they could have been included in a smaller update. The expansions for Destiny 2 are currently at a discount for a limited time, including Lightfall, so there are still opportunities to try it without a massive financial commitment.
Fans are not happy with the enormous amount of HP that the bosses in Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion seem to have in the endgame. It's a common frustration with the game - rather than design a boss that challenges players mechanically, the game often instead ramps up the difficulty by simply giving the boss a crazy amount of HP. Plenty of MMOs suffer from the same issue. Of course, there will always be players who figure out ways to cheese bosses in Destiny 2 with incredible builds, but the average player will just endure the bullet-sponge bosses and likely get frustrated about it.
As more and more players reach the endgame in Destiny 2, it becomes essential for the health of the game that the content is interesting and engaging to play for long periods. Fans have offered some interesting solutions for potential bosses. One user gave the idea to "chase a boss," meaning that players should have to use the vertical elements of the map in order to deal damage to bosses. There are plenty of routes that Bungie could take, and hopefully the studio address the complaints in The Last Shape.
Despite the disappointing Lightfall expansion, Destiny 2 remains in great shape. It boasts a massive player base that continues to enjoy the game and its content. The decision to make the base game of Destiny 2 free-to-play has had a massive impact, reducing the barrier to entry for many gamers out there. Plans post-The Last Shape are currently unknown, but hopefully Bungie continues to support the title for many years to come.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
