Like any good live service game, Destiny 2 is an ever-changing experience. In addition to a consistent flow of new content being released, there are always new features being added to the game. Last year, Bungie added an in-game group-finding system to make it easier to form groups for non-matchmade activities like raids and dungeons.
One new feature added in The Final Shape is Pathfinder, which replaces bounties for both core activities and for the new Pale Heart destination. This new system gives players a way of getting helpful rewards and Bright Dust simply by playing the game, and here is how it works.
Destiny 2: How To Rank Up Master Rahool Fast
If players want to decode engrams and earn some cool rewards in Destiny 2, then they are going to want to rank up Master Rahool's reputation.
What is Pathfinder?
Pathfinder is a series of objectives similar to bounties. These objectives are represented on nodes all connected as depicted in the image above, and they will vary from killing enemies around the Pale Heart to completing Vanguard Ops. There is a Pathfinder for the core playlists (Gambit, Vanguard Ops, and Crucible) and there is a Pathfinder for the Pale Heart. At the time of writing, no other destination has Pathfinder yet.
How Does Pathfinder Work?
When you complete an objective, you can claim it to receive XP. Once you've completed one node, you can then work on the next node on that path. Alternatively, if you've already completed that objective you can claim the reward as well. As you complete objectives along the path, you will get closer to the reward engram. It is important to note that you do not have to go in a straight line to complete Pathfinder. You can go up and down your path to the center as long as the nodes connect. Completing a path and reaching the end will get you the following rewards.
Core Playlist Pathfinder
- Prime Engram
- Bright Dust
- Enhancement Prism
- XP
Pale Heart Pathfinder
- Powerful Gear (Tier 3)
- Ergo Sum
- XP
- Ghost Reputation Rank
Before claiming the path completion reward for the Pale Heart, make sure you have completed the quest to obtain Ergo Sum. Trying to claim it through Pathfinder first results in not getting that reward.
What Do You Do After You Complete a Path?
After you have completed Pathfinder, you can reset it and get new objectives. This will cost 30,000 Glimmer, but it will allow you to get more rewards as you complete more objectives at either the Pale Heart or in core playlists. Completing Pathfinder is also a requirement for Guardian Ranks as well.
