Summary

  • Bungie reveals upcoming quality of life changes for Episode Heresy, like Iron Banner moving back to 1-week intervals.
  • In addition, Bungie is raising resource cap increases for Strange Coins, Osirian Ciphers, and Nightfall Ciphers.
  • Episode Revenant was divisive due to content concerns and other bugs, with fans hoping for a stronger Episode Heresy release.

Ahead of the launch of Episode Heresy in February, Bungie has revealed a couple of quality of life changes coming to Destiny 2, including a scheduling change for Iron Banner. The final act of Episode Revenant has arrived, giving Destiny 2 fans a chance to finish the story, while also claiming some new loot along the way.

For many, Episode Revenant was an uneven stretch of content, both in terms of story and content. While there were those who enjoyed it more than the previous episode, this wave of content definitely had its fair share of low points, including a massive perk weighing issue highlighted by the Destiny 2 community. However, with Revenant approaching its end, attention has seemingly turned to Episode Heresy, as Bungie has started to tease out new details.

In the first blog post for 2025, Bungie revealed some important resource cap increases coming with Episode Heresy. Specifically, Destiny 2's Strange Coins, a unique currency for use with the exotic merchant Xur, would have its cap increased from 99 to 199. In addition, Osirian Ciphers and Nightfall Ciphers will be going from 10 to 30, allowing players to carry more with them. Bungie also teased more changes related to Trials of Osiris, asking players to stay tuned for a full reveal in the coming weeks.

Destiny 2 Changing Iron Banner's Schedule

Alongside the resource cap changes, The Destiny 2 Team Twitter account responded to a fan who appeared to be tired of the two-week schedule for Iron Banner that arrived with The Final Shape, confirming that with Episode Heresy, the limited time mode would only be available for 1 week. Fan response was largely positive, though there were more than a few who were disappointed in the change. Fans noted that having two weeks allowed those with less time to play a chance to earn associated triumphs needed for the Iron Banner title in Destiny 2 and building the bonus reputation for faster progression.

Based on the current state of the game, fans are hoping Bungie has big plans for Destiny 2 in the next episode. Episode Revenant represented a low point for the franchise and its fans. The Destiny 2 player count took a noticeable hit during Episode Revenant, a major drop-off just months after the massively popular Final Shape expansion launched. Issues and bugs have also plagued the game as well, with a couple of major ones having to be first highlighted by the community before Bungie provided a fix.
