Bungie gives Destiny 2 fans their first look at the new exotic and legendary weapons and armor coming in the Renegades expansion. As expected, most of the Destiny 2 gear on display is Bungie's take on classic Star Wars weapons.
It's well known that Destiny 2 isn't doing so well at the moment, with the game's Steam numbers decreasing to dangerous levels for a live service title. Even longtime community members like Datto and Gladd have even stepped away, opting to take a break from the game. However, there remains hope that the Renegades expansion, due out in December, can rekindle the excitement that has seemingly been lost with players.
Destiny 2: Renegades Overhauling Bounties and Seasonal Challenges
Bungie reveals the new Orders System for Destiny 2, which completely replaces bounties and seasonal challenges inside the Renegades expansion.
Destiny 2 Renegades Exotic Weapons and Armor
Narrated by the NPC Spider, the Destiny 2 Renegades trailer kicks off its reveals with new Star Wars-inspired weapons players will be able to obtain. Uncivil Discourse is clearly inspired by Han Solo's DL-44 pistol, while the A499 heavy sniper rifle looks a lot like The Mandalorian's Amban rifle. In addition, Bungie showed the Modified B-7 Pistol, All or Nothing Pulse Rifle, Compact Defender sidearm and the M-17 Fast Talker SMG.
The Praxic Sword is a kinetic-based weapon, clearly inspired by the Lightsaber from the Star Wars franchise. The Heirloom, a crossbow-shaped weapon that fires high-powered explosive bolts, also appears to be based on Chewbacca's Boltcaster.
In terms of armor, the trailer also gave fans a good look at the exotic armor coming for Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. First up is the Fortune's Favor leg armor for Hunters, which recharges the shield over time into an overshield. Warlocks get the Deimosuffusion, which suspends enemies near the player and causes damage over time. For most players, these two exotics seem to be a little underwhelming as they either feature mechanics that are already in the game or aren't the flashest. Many hope that there's another layer to discover for each once the Destiny 2 Renegades expansion launches.
Finally, and the item that seems to be generating the most attention, is the Titan's Praxic Vestment. The exotic gear gives Titan players an advanced tactical air move, which many have likened to Anthem's Javelin flight suits. However, some have made the connection that the Praxic Vestment is Bungie's new take on the highly requested Destiny exotic known as Twilight Garrison. Instead of adding it back as is, Bungie has seemingly tweaked it to become something potentially better.
