A hilarious Destiny 2 bug recently gave a player more than 300 copies of the Salvation's Grip Exotic weapon catalyst, which has a very low drop rate in the game. Some Destiny 2 players are puzzled by how this bug went unnoticed in the game, and a few others are confused as to why they still don't have the catalyst nearly four years after the Exotic weapon was first introduced.
Despite Destiny 2 and Bungie's controversies in 2024, the live-service shooter is still actively played by many thousands of players around the world. Destiny 2 Episode Revenant is ongoing with new activities, story missions, and rewards, and players will soon know what's in store for Revenant Act 2, which features another batch of story missions and gear. Every week, Destiny 2 players still chasing certain Exotics and pinnacle legendary gear have a refreshed suite of activities to complete, thanks to the weekly reset. These Exotic weapons and gear may be acquired from ritual activities, including Gambit matches, Crucible matches, and Nightfall strikes. Exotics can be elusive for some players due to the low overall drop rate, but these activities give them the best chance to acquire the next piece to their loadouts.
Due to a strange bug, Reddit user NotFrankReally obtained 390 copies of the Salvation's Grip catalyst while playing Vanguard strikes in Destiny 2. Players in the Destiny 2 Reddit community jokingly remarked that NotFrankReally took everyone else's RNG, since some still don't have the Salvation's Grip catalyst years after the launch of Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion. Others shared their stories about rare Exotic catalyst drops as well, such as 140-LB-WUSS obtaining the Salvation's Grip catalyst and Wicked Implement catalyst from private PvP matches in quick succession.
Destiny 2 Bug Gives Player 390 Copies of Salvation's Grip Catalyst
Strangely enough, NotFrankReally's Exotic catalyst drop nearly matches the amount of kills needed to upgrade the Salvation's Grip Exotic grenade launcher. The Salvation's Grip catalyst requires 400 kills in order to upgrade the Exotic weapon and unlock a new perk, which grants the player Frost Armor for destroying a Stasis crystal or defeating a frozen target. As a result, the catalyst is highly sought after by players wanting a strong Stasis build for Destiny 2's PvE content.
More Exotics and Exotic catalysts will be added over time in free updates and expansions, and the Destiny 2 Episode Revenant Act 2 livestream could tease what's to come in the immediate future. Revenant Act 2 will begin on November 19, followed by the third and final part, Revenant Act 3, on January 7.
