The Coil is one of the new activities in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish that offers a new type of endgame experience. It'll have players go through a gauntlet of combat encounters that grow increasingly difficult after every loop. There are plenty of rewards to be had here, and even more if players know where to look.

Hidden throughout the short intermission maps between combat encounters are chests containing additional seasonal loot. They aren't too difficult to spot, but they can be easy to miss if Destiny 2 players are rushing to get to the next area. This guide covers how to get all the secret chests in The Coil as well as a tip on how to get to the secret room at the end of the activity.

Destiny 2: All Coil Secret Chests

After jumping through a portal at the start of the activity, players will find themselves in a short intermission area before arriving at the first Pathway of the first round. As of writing, there are four rounds with two Pathways each, and there's one secret chest per Pathway. Enemies become more difficult the more rounds players go, so make sure to bring the best gear and builds possible.

Normally, the chests will be locked behind closed doors. To open the way, players must break the pots inside Pathways and collect the Clear Shards that drop from them. This will increase the fireteam's total score — reaching certain score thresholds will unlock the doors. Keep collecting Clear Shards to retroactively unlock the doors in future rounds. Clear Shards will occasionally drop from enemies as well, so make sure to check the floor after finishing a combat encounter.

Opening secret chests will give players engrams, Dreaming City guns, seasonal loot, and possibly, reprised Season of the Undying weapons. The drop rate for the latter appears to be very low, however, and it may take a lot of Coil runs before players get their first Undying weapon drop. Just make sure not to check the floor that the secret chests are standing on to see if they're trapped or not.

Get a Platinum score by the end of the fourth round and Riven will open a portal to the Chamber of Wishes. This secret room contains additional chests containing more gear as well as upgrade materials. Normally, this room can only be reached if players get inside all the secret chest rooms since they contain extra breakable pots.

The first secret chest can be farmed repeatedly by loading into a solo Coil run and rushing all the pots in the first Pathway. Once the door opens, unlock the non-trapped chest, return to orbit, then start a new solo run.
