Bungie reveals the start time for the next Arms Week event in Destiny 2 while also detailing the powerful and volatile weapon mods that will be available for a limited time. Players are starving for new content and with the Renegades expansion still a ways away, Bungie is hoping this latest Arms Week limited-time event can hold Destiny 2 fans over for a little while longer.

Destiny 2 Player Count Down Significantly

There's no denying that Destiny 2 is in a tough spot currently, with its player numbers dropping to concerning levels and some of the biggest voices in the community leaving to play other games. The Edge of Fate represented a new start for the franchise, though a combination of bugs, frustrations with new systems and mechanics like the Portal, and gameplay that primarily centers around a stingy power grind has seemingly turned many players off. Bungie has continued to supplement the game with limited-time events to hold player interest, such as Arms Week, which makes its return.

Why Destiny 2 Players Are Flocking to Borderlands 4

Some players are leaving Destiny 2 now that Borderlands 4 is in play, as it scratches the same itch and solves some of Destiny's oldest frustrations.

Destiny 2 Arms Week Returns On October 7

In its latest blog post, Bungie revealed that Arms Week is coming back to Destiny 2 at the October 7 reset, this time focusing on Shotguns. For those who missed it originally, the first Arms Week kicked off after the launch of Edge of Fate, centering on the new Shooting Range area of the Tower and placing a focus on Hand Cannons over that span of seven days. In fact, the first Destiny 2 Arms Week event introduced a new weapon, a shotgun-inspired Hand Cannon known as Phoneutria Fera, complete with a special weapon skin.

However, for many, the star of the event were Volatile Weapon Mods, limited bonuses to any legendary hand cannon, such as the previously mentioned Phoneutria Fera, that offered players access to powerful effects. The same is happening for this upcoming Arms Week, with three new volatile mods to play around with.

  • Unstable Shells - Landing precision hits or most of a pellet spread will attach a delayed explosive to the target.
  • Illegal Trigger - Every shell fired increases rate of fire for a short time. Magazine size and reserves are increased beyond their normal limits.
  • Aftershock - Final blows create a wave of energy behind the target.

While many in the community may be down on Destiny 2 currently, there may be hope on the horizon. Bungie's reveal of Destiny 2: Renegades, an expansion that serves as a collaboration between the studio and LucasFIlm and its Star Wars IP, left many fans excited about what they were seeing. Renegades not only introduces gear and weapons based on Star Wars, but its Lawless Frontier seems to introduce a bit of Helldivers 2-style randomized missions in as well. The biggest challenge ahead of Bungie until Renegade launches is making sure player interest remains, something which is seemingly getting more challenging every week.
