Bungie announced some big changes coming to the annual Solstice event in Destiny 2 to coincide with the new feature additions made with The Edge of Fate. While Destiny 2 shifted away from its traditional seasonal model for The Edge of Fate, it appears Bungie is relying on limited-time events and new content additions to the Portal on a nearly weekly basis to keep players entertained between major updates.

Already, Destiny 2 fans are taking part in Arms Week, a new event that places a focus on a specific weapon type, with Hand Cannons being featured for the first iteration. Alongside special Volatile Mods, players can earn new weapons like the Phoneutria Fera, a hand cannon that takes its inspiration more from shotguns. Prior to that, Destiny 2 held its World's First race for the Desert Perpetual Raid, and now the annual Solstice event is right around the corner.

Destiny 2 Update Finally Fixes Ability Stat Bonuses on Armor

A new update for Destiny 2, fixing a number of issues within the game, while also finally addressing a frustrating issue with ability stats on armor.

As expected, Destiny 2 is bringing back its Solstice event, though for this year's version, players should be expecting something much less traditional than in years past. In its latest weekly blog post, Bungie confirmed that players will still be attempting to restore armor, eventually adding unique glow effects to it. However, the blurb also teased new rewards, including a Ghost Shell, Holofoil weapons, as well as special Destiny 2 Beach-themed armor sets, which will be a premium purchase tied to Eververse.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2025 Event Changes

One of the biggest confirmed changes is that Solstice will no longer be using the Bonfire Bash activity as its central mechanic. Through Destiny 2's Event Home feature, players will instead access a special Solstice Scorched Crucible Playlist as well as special rotating solar modifiers being applied to PvE activities in the Portal. Bungie has teased a bunch, but only revealed four to this point, including:

  • Hot Potato - Carriable Solar Flares occasionally drop from defeated combatants. Passing it between players increases the amount of damage it will do.
  • Fired Up - Dealing damage and final blows from Solar sources raises a heat meter Once full, your weapons will cause Solar explosions.
  • Class Healing - Heal yourself when using your class ability.
  • Igniter - Precision hits against scorched combatants cause ignitions.

In the meantime, Bungie continues to sort through the fallout of a cheating scandal from Destiny 2's Desert Perpetual raid. In what many called Destiny 2's most difficult Contest Mode raid, both due to bugs and learning the new non-linear format of the experience, reports began circulating that many clears were not done legitimately. The reports eventually prompted Bungie to investigate, while also reminding players that breaking the Code of Conduct could result in bans from the game.
