Some Destiny 2 players briefly played and examined The Final Shape ahead of launch, thanks to a leak that saw the expansion go live on PlayStation 5 consoles. Although Bungie temporarily shut down servers to prevent further leaks, a few Destiny 2 players were able to document some of the new content and gear that will be available on June 4.

Bungie initially planned to release Destiny 2's The Final Shape expansion on February 27, but a delay pushed the release date to June 4, resulting in an extension for Season of the Wish. The finale of the Light and Darkness saga will feature new Prismatic subclass abilities, a comprehensive campaign experience, all-new activities, and much more. Additionally, The Final Shape marks the end of Destiny 2's seasonal model, with Bungie shifting to an episodic model in Year 7. While fans wait for the launch of the expansion, players may access the Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen expansions for free until June 3 during "Expansion Open Access," allowing them to catch up on Destiny 2's lengthy story.

Some Destiny 2 players on PS5 were able to access The Final Shape expansion, including the campaign and certain items in Collections, on the morning of May 30. After servers were temporarily shut down, Bungie confirmed the leak on Twitter, disclosing that players were able to access reward info and other elements from The Final Shape and the game's first episode, titled Echoes. Those who had access to the expansion saw an updated title screen, and players were dropped into an updated build after selecting their Guardian. Further in the Twitter thread, Bungie offers advice to the Destiny 2 community, advising players to be careful on social media due to potential spoilers and misinformation involving The Final Shape.

Bungie Addresses Destiny 2: The Final Shape Leak on PS5

As reported by the player community on the Destiny 2 Leaks subreddit, the spoilers involve The Final Shape's new raid, cosmetics, legendary weapons, Exotics, and other in-game elements and features. Players did not have access to any story-related content from the Echoes episode, but the leak revealed the episode's reward track, key artwork, and ritual weapon.

There's still some time left to prepare for The Final Shape, and players are encouraged to check their inventory since many items will be vaulted soon in Destiny 2. Although players will no longer be able to stockpile bounties, the new Pathfinder system should yield valuable XP returns in The Final Shap e. Moreover, the new episodic content will offer activities that players may complete regularly to earn XP and other rewards, similar to past seasons.
