Almost three years after its release, Destiny 2 remains a highly popular multiplayer first-person shooter. Players who like to combine their shooting with streaming will be very happy at the latest announcement from Bungie. Its partnership with Twitch Prime Rewards, which provides subscribed players with special loot every month, is going to be extended by another four months.

Destiny 2 players with an active Twitch Prime subscription need to link their Twitch account to their Bungie.net account, and then they simply visit the rewards page each month to claim their loot drop. The loot will then be available in-game by visiting the tower with Amanda Holliday. Gamers with Amazon Prime can claim the rewards too, as that subscription includes Twitch Prime.

The rewards partnership has been active for six months, and has provided Twitch and Amazon Prime members with rewards ranging from powerful and exotic weapons like the SUROS Regime, ships like the Sails of Osiris, and highly-rated sparrows like Burnout. This month's loot drop includes the aforementioned Burnout sparrow, as well as the Cerebral Explosion emote, Plasma Shell ghost, and Stellar Pavements ship.

Destiny 2 is not the only game to be linked to the Twitch rewards program, with Doom Eternal, FIFA 20 Ultimate Team, and Rainbow Six Siege among those currently offering in-game rewards. In addition, a range of recent games, indie titles, and retro titles are made available each month for permanent download. As Twitch and Amazon Prime have free 30-day trials, players can test both the services and rewards without paying anything.

In a world where free-to-play multiplayer games are incredibly popular with both players and publishers, getting hold of exclusive rewards and loot is one of the best ways for players to improve their chances in competitive games like Destiny 2. This can be frustrating for many gamers who prefer an even playing field, as the choice of games without loot boxes or equivalents is reduced.

However, the state of gaming in 2020 is looking pretty healthy. With powerful new consoles on the horizon, a healthy PC scene, Nintendo Switch remaining popular, and a wide range of both regular and free-to-play games filling the online and retail shelves. So while free-to-play games may not be welcomed by everyone, there remains plenty of choice out there. For those who do enjoy games such as Destiny 2, the rewards from Twitch and Amazon Prime are pretty handy.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and is expected to be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at launch in late 2020.
