Summary

  • Bungie is increasing the roaming super recharge rate in Destiny 2 by 3x for better PvE activity balance.
  • Roaming supers will now deal 30-55% more damage to champions in Destiny 2 to provide more options.
  • The midseason update in Destiny 2 buffs various supers like Stormtrance and Sentinel Shield for better gameplay.

Bungie reveals all the super changes coming inside of Destiny 2's midseason update, including major energy regeneration and damage buffs for certain ones like Stormtrance, Spectral Blades, and more. Over the years, Bungie has continued tweaking Destiny 2's subclasses, attempting to keep a balance between them all. However, it's typically a case of easier said than done.

During Episode: Echoes, Bungie began teasing changes to Destiny 2 subclass abilities and supers, giving fans a glimpse at some of the buffs that were on the way. For example, Spectral Blades has been viewed by many as being one of the weakest supers, and with this upcoming change, Bungie is looking to make it a viable option instead of players automatically defaulting to Deadfall or Mobius Quiver. In addition to specific super changes, Bungie went a step further and revealed a key mechanic change.

Inside of the weekly blog post, Bungie went a bit deeper into the planned buffs coming to supers. Recalling the changes made to Destiny 2 super abilities in The Final Shape, the blog indicated that the intent for these upcoming Act 2 buffs is to optimize the "mechanics of second-to-second combat."

First up, Bungie is increasing the charge rate for roaming supers by three times the amount it is set to prior to release of Episode Revenant Act 2 in Destiny 2. Whether dealing or taking damage in PvE activities, Bungie is aiming to ensure that players have their super ready to go, revealing that internal playtests in an Advanced Nightfall have seen players charge around 6 to 8 Nova Warps as compared to the 3 to 5 Nova Bombs.

Alongside that, roaming supers are now going to deal 30-55% more damage to champions, depending on which super is being used. Again, the thinking behind both of these changes is to give players more options when taking on certain Destiny 2 PvE activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls. Previously, players have been focused more on burst supers like Celestial Nighthawk powered Golden Gun, Nova Bomb, Blade Barrage, Storm's Edge, or Thundercrash to name a few.
