- By blending classic and modern TRON aesthetics, the Warlock Guardian outfit receives praise and attention from the Destiny 2 community.
A Destiny 2 player has come up with a stylish new cyberpunk-style outfit that turns their character into one straight from Disney's TRON series. The costume uses cosmetic parts and upgrades used by a Destiny 2 Warlock Guardian, and includes suggestions for a sparrow speeder and spaceship to complete the ensemble.
It's hard to understate the influence of TRON on contemporary media. Despite being a single Disney movie that performed only moderately well at the time of its release in 1982, TRON went on to be recognized as an early cult classic of the era. That said, it can be argued that Disney has failed to build on the cultural influence of TRON, with little follow-up on the original before 2010's TRON: Legacy and little excitement for the new TRON reboot coming out in 2025. Nevertheless, TRON continues to influence virtually every instance of futuristic or cyberpunk media, with constant references to its stark neon lines and grid aesthetic found in games and films.
Destiny 2 player Accomplished_Mobile7 chose to bring a bit more of The Grid into the ranks of The Last City by sharing their Destiny 2 TRON outfit with the DestinyFashion Reddit community. They showed off a set of customized Warlock Guardian armor pieces designed to make a character look like they'd just come off a match in the Lightcycle arena.
Destiny 2 TRON Outfit Includes A Lightcyle Sparrow and Jumpship
Accomplished_Mobile7's TRON Guardian outfit dips heavily into the aesthetic used by TRON: Legacy, which updated the classic TRON look to blend organic shapes and curved lines into the traditional blue-on-black neon look. Their Warlock makes effective use of the Lambent Luster set from the recent Destiny 2 Episode Echoes content season, combining it with the simple, low-rarity Cosmic Wind III chest piece to give their Warlock a form-fitting silhouette appropriate to the bodysuits worn by most TRON characters. They colored the chest, arms, and legs with the popular Superblack shader, which causes bright glowing blue lines to appear on the outfit's piping. The Ancestral Bond class item also looks like a glowing holographic shape when colored by the Shards of Stillness shader, adding more flair. Finally, the opaque Eye of Another World Exotic helmet also looks just like a TRON helmet when colored with the Iridescent Coral shader.
Players praised the custom outfit, complimenting Accomplished_Mobile7's use of easily accessed parts in their creation. Others also noticed that the outfit included suggestions for the premium Retrostech Sparrow, which happens to look very much like a classic TRON Lightcycle, especially when colored with a black shader. The Unauthorized Departure Jumpship also matches the TRON aesthetic, completing the look. Some commenters suggested that this Warlock could be secretly a Guardian from the Lightfall city of Neomuna, a Destiny 2 location heavily influenced by TRON-like neon cyberpunk aesthetics.
