As far as exotic quests go, the ones introduced in Destiny 2: The Final Shape are very different from the ones players have seen before. Instead of being one-off missions that play like strikes, the ones in this expansion focus less on spectacle and more on narrative. Such is the case for Wild Card, a quest that puts Cayde-6 and Crow under the spotlight.
Wild Card is the quest players need to beat to get the
Still Hunt sniper rifle in Destiny 2. Luckily, this mission is neither hard nor confusing, though players might be wondering how to start it in the first place. This short guide covers all the things you need to do in order to complete this quest.
Wild Card Quick Quest Guide
Wild Card itself is a straightforward quest, unlike the quest for Destiny 2's Whisper of the Worm. Here's a complete breakdown of all the steps you need to complete for it.
- Finish The Final Shape campaign.
- Finish the Queens, Part I subquest of the Destined Heroes exotic mission.
- Speak with Cayde-6 at the Tower to start Wild Card.
- Collect Dark Ether.
- Take out the Devourer of Tainted Light.
- Destroy the Taken Blights.
- Draw out and eliminate the Megashank.
- Defeat Lii'Liks, Harvester of the Witness.
Destiny 2: Wild Card Walkthrough
As mentioned, Wild Card is a very straightforward quest. However, there are some parts that might confuse players. The beginning of this quest is especially simple: follow the objective markers, kill Corrupted Warbeasts and Screebs, and collect their Dark Ether. After those steps, you'll be asked to set up camp, and the rest of the shenanigans with Crow and Cayde will resume.
Hunt the Tainted Warbeast
This section will have you following an energy signature that leads to a cave with the Devourer of Tainted Light, a suped-up Warbeast that's more annoying than deadly.. As you chunk its health down, it will become invulnerable — follow it inside one of the energy shields inside the cave, then continue to wail on it. Use a Prismatic subclass build (or stand on the Prismatic wells) to counter the Bound enemies that appear.
Repeat until it dies, then go back to camp and meditate in the tent. The tank of Dark Ether you collected will be gone by the time you return.
Destroy the Blights
Here, your job is to get rid of the Taken Blights that have spawned all over the area. All you need to do is eliminate all the Taken around each big Blight, then beat the Dread Omen boss that spawns after you clear each zone. Once that's done, head back to camp and wait for Cayde's update.
Why Destiny 2's Legendary Campaign Should Be Just the Tip of the Iceberg
Destiny 2: The Final Shape's Legendary campaign provides a rewarding experience, but the expansion shouldn't stop there with the popular mode.
Find and Destroy the Megashank
This part of the quest is a stakeout. You'll spawn in a cave overlooking a part of the Landing region of the Pale Heart, and your objective here is to shoot down all the Fallen Shanks you see. Take enough of them down, and a giant Shank will appear. Shoot them all down to proceed to the next part of the quest. Bring a mid-range weapon like a Scout Rifle or Destiny 2's reprised Red Death so you can easily take the Shanks down.
Defeat the Harvester of the Witness
The final part of Wild Card involves fighting a Scorn Abomination in a fairly tight cave. The boss itself is easy enough to beat, but the hordes of Screebs inside might make things more complicated. Wear Concussive Dampeners on your chest piece to mitigate their damage.
Once the boss' HP reaches the 33 and 66 percent marks, it'll try to escape, and you'll be stuck in the cave with yet another horde of Screebs. Kill them, and they'll spawn Dark Ether motes. Collect 10 Dark Ether, then dunk them into the barrel in the middle of the room. This will lure the boss back into the cave, ready for another beating.
After you beat the boss, a cutscene will play followed by more exposition between Cayde and Crow. Once they're done talking, the mission will be complete. Head back to the Lost City Tower in the Pale Heart and speak with Cayde again. He'll give you the Still Hunt sniper rifle as a reward for your troubles.
