Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. The news most fans have been waiting for is finally right around the corner, as Bungie will be revealing Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate expansion in a special livestream. This represents the next chapter of the game, as part of the "Codename: Frontiers" era that Bungie officially announced last year.

Alongside the reveal, May 6 also marks the launch of the previously released Rite of the Nine activity for Destiny 2. However, this will be the official launch of the activity, unlike when it arrived way earlier than expected, largely being incomplete.

It's also time to talk about the exotic merchant Xur, who has returned with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of April 25, 2025.

Where is Xur?

Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.

Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are hanging out and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley hiding Xur is to the right.

Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Exotic Perk:

  • Embers of Light - Daybreak final blows create a healing and empowering Rift at the target's location. While a Solar Super is equipped, Solar weapon final blows grant Rift energy; standing in a Rift increases this energy. Final blows while in a Rift consume class ability energy to create a healing and empowering Rift at the target's location.

Spiky stat armor this week for Warlocks, though the exotic on sale isn't a real top-tier option in the current meta. It's one that's more beneficial in PvE-style activities.

Exotic Perk:

  • Scissor Fingers - Gain a second knife per charge. Getting a final blow with a throwing knife grants consecutive knives a temporary stacking damage bonus. Gambler's Dodge refreshes the bonus timer.

Another exotic item for knife throwing/Blade Barrage gunslingers, this one isn't nearly as unique or flashy, but it gives players a second knife charge which always comes in handy. Not only that, final blows with a knife throw stacks bonus damage.

Dunemarchers - Titan leg armor

Exotic Perk:

  • Linear Actuators - Increases sprint speed. Sprinting builds up a static charge. After melee-attacking an enemy, that charge will chain damage to nearby enemies.

For Titans who want to go fast, the Dunemarchers not only increase spring speed, but they'll give the player the ability to chain lightning and apply the Shocked debuff to melee-hit enemies. They're a solid add this week, especially with the 68 total.

Year 7 in Destiny 2 has upgraded Xur's inventory, adding a true rank progression system, rewards, as well as focusing options. Xur also has more than just weapons and armor as well, including:
