Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Although Episode Revenant is coming to a close in the next few weeks, Bungie revealed that it still has a few surprises left for players. The studio revealed a new Destiny 2 event called Past is Prologue, where players can complete quests, earn Bento Tokens, and exchange them for some rare rewards.
Alongside that news, Bungie also confirmed a few changes coming to Solar, Void, and Arc subclasses. The company confirmed that Destiny 2 is adding 1 new aspect for each elemental subclass, giving players more flexibility with their builds. In addition, Arc is getting a new buff called Bolt Charge, which builds over time until it unleashes a damaging electrical bolt at enemies when an ability is triggered.
Destiny 2 Update Makes Big Changes to Weapons and Exotic Gear
Bungie releases a big Destiny 2 weapons and armor update, addressing lingering bugs while also making balance changes to certain archetypes.
For now though, the weekend merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of January 17, 2025.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Dearly Departed
- Your Rift provides damage reduction to allied Guardians standing in it. Grants Rift energy when you are critically wounded. On your death, creates a healing rift on your corpse.
A Rift specific exotic that is likely overshadowed by some of the other in meta options Warlocks have access to this season. Certainly not a must-have, but it can be handy in certain activities.

- Dodging gives a small health and shield bump.
Fairly spikey armor this week with really high Mobility and Intellect, while the other stats are on the lower side. Wormhusk used to be a powerful exotic and while it isn't quite what it used to be, it can still get players out of a tough spot by providing a bit of quick healing.

- Generates an additional Orb of Power from Supers and a healing pulse when Barricade is activated.
Another capable and solid exotic armor piece that provides a good benefit by producing additional orbs as well as a way to heal when using Barricade.

Xur Inventory Items

- Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.
