Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Destiny 2 has had its fair share of criticisms and controversies over the years and, unfortunately, Bungie found itself in another one this week at reset. Fans were upset when they discovered more timegating had been applied to the Rites of the Nine activity, essentially locking each dungeon into a three-week cycle. Thankfully, Bungie moved very quickly and announced major changes to Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine activity, making the schedule friendlier and the event more rewarding overall.
As the Heavy Metal event for Destiny 2 finally comes to a close, Trials of Osiris also makes its return after a couple of weeks off. To reward player patience, Bungie also announced that players will be earning double rep this weekend. Unfortunately for Osiris fans, Iron Banner returns at reset next week, so get those matches in now as the weekend playlist will be put back on the shelf for another week.
Destiny 2: Rite of the Nine Dungeon Schedule
Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine Event timegates its three Dungeons, so players will want to check in here to see when each dungeon is available to play.
With the weekend finally here, the exotic merchant Xur has returned with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of May 16, 2025.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are hanging out and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley hiding Xur is to the right.
Destiny 2 Exotic Class Armor
Xur's role has continued to expand and evolve over the years. Alongside The Final Shape expansion, Xur's inventory in Destiny 2 expanded even more, moving back to Strange Coins as the currency of choice, rank rewards, resources, and of course, armor and weapons.
Aeon Soul - Warlock gauntlets
Exotic Perks:
- Sect of Force temporarily increases player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy.
- Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gains full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing.
- Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.
Unfortunately, the Aeon SOul has returned after being available just two weeks ago. Not much has changed at all, so it still isn't a must buy.

Upgraded Sensor Pack
- Provides radar while you're aiming. Enhances your radar resolution while crouched. Visually marks targets. Deals more damage to low-health marked targets. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.
It's back for a second week in a row, this time with a slightly better overall stat line.

One-Eyed Mask - Titan helmet

Vengeance
- Highlights the target who dares to damage you. Track down and destroy them for an overshield.
A former beast in the Crucible, the One-Eyed Mask has seen its fair share of nerfs over the years to bring it back in line. It's still solid for PvP, but there are much better options these days.

Xur Inventory Items

Hawkmoon - Hand Cannon

- Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.
