Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. As Season of the Witch enters the homestretch, Bungie reminded players that there's a few more things left to do this season including the return of the Festival of the Lost. Destiny 2's Halloween inspired event, players will once again be taking on Haunted Sectors, though for this year's version, players can earn special Eerie Engrams which can be focused into some unique and exotic rewards at Eva Levante.
Outside of that, the core aspect of Season of the Witch has since come to an end, as Eris Morn's story against Xivu Arath has largely been resolved, though many fans were left a bit unsatisfied with how Bungie chose to end the story. Much of the big revelations seemingly happened "off screen" inside of the corresponding lore book known as Rites of Passage, leaving fans confused as to why they couldn't see it within the final cutscene.
Destiny 2 Announces Upcoming Midseason Exotic Armor Changes
Bungie reveals two exotic armor pieces that are getting major adjustments when the big midseason update arrives for Destiny 2.
With the weekend here, the exotic merchant Xur is making his usual appearance inside Destiny 2 over the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of October 13, 2023.
Where is Xur?
Over this weekend, players should head to Watcher's Grave on Nessus to find the merchant up the massive tree towards the back of the zone.
From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher's Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Vesper of Radius - Warlock chest armor
Exotic Perk:
Planetary Torrent - Rifts periodically release Arc shockwaves. Final blows with these shockwaves create an Arc explosion. While an Arc subclass is equipped, the shockwaves and subsequent explosions blind nearby targets. Rift energy recharges faster when the player is surrounded by targets.
It's certainly a unique exotic for Warlock's this week, though from a functional and usefulness standpoint, it may not be the best option. It can be fun to play around with but is not a must-buy exotic.
Stat Values (65 Total):
- Mobility +9
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +16
- Discipline +10
- Intellect +16
- Strength +6
Gwisin Vest - Hunter chest armor
Exotic Perk:
Roving Assassin - Each Spectral Blades kill the player makes before going into stealth will restore more Super energy.
After a week of high stats, Xur has brought the Gwisin Vest with a lower than expected roll. The exotic itself is useful for Spectral Blade Hunters, but the roll certainly prevents this from being a must buy.
Stat Values (63 Total):
- Mobility +12
- Resilience +16
- Recovery +7
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +11
- Strength +15
An Insurmountable Skullfort - Titan helmet
Exotic Perk:
Transfusion Matrix - Kills with Arc melee abilities trigger health regeneration and restore melee energy.
This is a solid exotic helm for Striker titans as it is a great way to trigger self-heals and restoring melee energy to continue this cycle. The roll is just okay, though resilience is unfortunately very low, so players will likely want to use a mod to boost that number.
Stat Values (65 total):
- Mobility +7
- Resilience +3
- Recovery +25
- Discipline +8
- Intellect +7
- Strength +15
Exotic Weapon
Earlier in the Destiny 2 lifecycle, the Lord of Wolves shotgun was one of the most used weapons in the game thanks to a bug that caused the weapon to basically just melt enemies. While Bungie let the gun run wild in Crucible a little longer than it would have liked, the gun is nowhere near as fearsome as it once was. Even still, it remains a strong close quarters weapon and is worth a look for those who don't yet have it.
The Intrinsic perk is called Shrapnel Launcher which causes the gun to fire a powerful short-range burst of solar damage. However, the Release the Wolves trait is what really enhances this weapon's potency as players that hold the reload button can swap to a longer, more powerful burst.
Weapon perks:
- Chambered Compensator
- Extended Mag
- Composite Stock
Hawkmoon Rolls
At this point, Xur is only selling Hawkmoon with randomized rolls, but its time is limited once Harbinger is ultimately added to the Exotic Mission Rotator and makes the hand cannon craftable. Either way, here is the roll Xur has this weekend:
Hawkmoon Rolls:
- Polygonal Rifling
- Alloy Magazine
- Rangefinder
- Textured Grip
