Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations…

Summary

Xur has returned to Destiny 2 with new exotic and legendary gear, including the Getaway Artist gauntlets, Hallowfire Heart chest armor, and Orpheus Rig leg armor.
Xur is located in the Winding Cove in the EDZ, offering exotic cipher quests, legendary weapons and armor, and the Prometheus Lens weapon.
The merchant has also brought a new selection of legendary weapons and armor this weekend.

Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Season of the Witch is in full swing and so far, it seems to be well recieved by the community thanks in large part to the more unique seasonal activities as well as the new Deck of Whispers and Deckbuilding mechanics.

In addition, Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn continues to be open with Bungie's plans for the game including its Crucible mode. In fact, Blackburn provided a bit more information on the studios long term plans for PvP, admitting that the studio was too invested in trying to make everyone happy, ultimately making no one happy. Instead, the PvP Strike Team and future updates will focus more on the hardcore Crucible fans, the ones that prefer to spend hours on that side of the game and making it more optional for those players who don't. Either way, it looks like good things may finally be on the horizon for Crucible fans.

With Friday here, Xur is making another appearance inside Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of September 1, 2023.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players will want to head to the Winding Cove, in the EDZ.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Getaway Artist - Warlock gauntlets

Exotic Perk:

Dynamic Duo - [Grenade]: Convert your Arc grenade into an Arc Soul and become amplified. The Arc Soul functions as an autonomous turret.

When used with certain arc builds, the Getaway Artist can turn the player into a force. The roll is extremely high and has a great balance, so this is another exotic worth checking out.

Orpheus Rig - Hunter leg armor

Exotic Perk:

Uncanny Arrows - Provides ability energy for each target tethered by Deadfall anchors. Moebius Quiver has an additional shot.

Overall, the roll is fairly balanced and while 64 may not be as high as one would like, these remain extremely useful for Nightstalker Hunters and are worth a pick up.

Hallowfire Heart - Titan chest armor

Exotic Perk:

Sunfire Furnace - Solar takedowns while standing in a Sunspot create a Sunspot. Greatly improves recharge rate of your Solar abilities while your Super is charged. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.

Solar TItans will want to take a look at this one, as it finally has a roll that isn't dominated by Mobility. Coming in at a 68 total, this is definitely worth a pickup this week.

Exotic Weapon

This weapon is likely remembered more for the fact that at one point a few years ago, Prometheus Lens was wildly overpowered and caused all sorts of chaos in the Crucible. While the gun hasn't been nearly as viable since then, it can still be fun to use in certain situations.

Prismatic Inferno is its intrinsic perk which makes the weapon fire a Solar beam and generate a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire. Its other unique perk is Flame Refraction which returns a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine from reserves, extending the beam's duration. It's not a required buy this week, but could be fun in many PvE style activities.

Hawkmoon Rolls

For now, Xur is only selling Hawkmoon with randomized rolls, but its time is limited once Harbinger is ultimately added to the Exotic Mission Rotator and makes the hand cannon craftable. Either way, here is the roll Xur has this weekend:
