A dedicated Destiny 2 fan has undertaken the daunting task of creating their own version of the game’s iconic raids inside of Halo Infinite’s Forge. The end result is an experience that should appeal to both Destiny 2 and Halo Infinite fans, and it is currently free to play.

Since the inception of the Destiny franchise, raids have been a core part of the gameplay experience. These activities are often regarded as some of the most challenging parts of the games and require players to use teamwork to overcome obstacles. These can include platforming sections, puzzles, enemies, and more. Ultimately, the raids end with a final battle against a legendary boss, which often requires players to be at the top of their game to vanquish. While Destiny 2 has featured a variety of raids since its launch over eight years ago, that has not stopped one fan from creating their own version of the six-player missions in another FPS game.

Destiny 2 Fan Creates Original Raid Experience in Halo Infinite

On Reddit, a user known as MadmanEpic revealed a Destiny-inspired raid they made in Halo Infinite. According to the Reddit user, they created the experience in Forge and designed it to be similar in scope to the raids in Destiny 2. Fortunately, Halo Infinite’s Forge features a robust set of features, allowing the player to build something that many Destiny fans have been interested in checking out. So far, the Reddit post has gained over 1.7K upvotes, with many users complimenting the creator on the crossover idea.

Known as Shard of Ascension, MadmanEpic has described the Forge-created activity as “an original full-length Destiny raid.” With this in mind, players should expect their first run through to take two hours or more. However, the creator said that a “perfect playthrough” could be completed in around 40 minutes. Along the way, players will face four encounters and some traversal sections, along with custom mechanics. While the experience was intended for six players, MadmanEpic noted that it could scale down to four. When going in with a smaller team, they recommend dropping the enemy difficulty to Normal.

As the recent YouTube trailer for Shard of Ascension shows, the fan-created raid features some impressive PvE content, with players utilizing classic Halo Infinite vehicles and fighting Banished enemies. Unsurprisingly, MadmanEpic said the ambitious project “stretches Forge to its absolute limits." The raid definitely is worth checking out for fans who want a Destiny-inspired raid with some of Halo’s DNA injected into the experience. Fortunately, anyone who wants to play Shard of Ascension can do so, even if they don’t own Halo Infinite’s campaign, since it is part of custom games in Forge, which is free to play. MadmanEpic left links to the Forge map and mode in their Reddit post.

Halo Infinite is Done Getting Major Content Updates

It is doubtlessly exciting to see new fan-created content added to Halo Infinite, especially on a scale as big as Shard of Ascension. Sadly, this comes shortly after the final major content update for Halo Infinite, Operation: Infinite, released on November 18. While smaller patches might happen, fans will have to rely on community-created content made in Forge to continue to keep the experience fresh.

Fortunately, MadmanEpic’s Destiny-inspired raid reveals that fan ingenuity continues to be showcased thanks to Forge. Time will tell what other creative experiences based on games like Destiny 2 could appear in Halo Infinite, as players wait for the next installment in the classic first-person shooter franchise to launch.
