Summary

  • Molly Park from Dexter: New Blood might return in Resurrection via her true-crime podcast.
  • Paramount+ is working to engage fans with Dexter universe through the YouTube series Dexter's Kill Room.
  • Jamie Chung's appearance on Dexter's Kill Room suggests her potential involvement in Dexter: Resurrection.

Dexter: Resurrection will bring Michael C. Hall back as Dexter Morgan on Paramount+ with Showtime. Filming begins in January 2025, and it'll hit screens next summer. Hall is the only confirmed cast member for the sequel series, but rumors are circulating that he could be joined by some of the surviving characters from the original Dexter series. However, there is one dead character from Dexter: New Blood who could actually return, and not in the form of a ghost, like the Dexter-verse usually opts to do.

Molly Park was the true crime podcaster who came to Iron Lake to investigate the disappearance of Matt Caldwell, but she ended up being murdered by Dexter: New Blood's big serial killer villain, Kurt Caldwell. Jamie Chung played Molly Park in seven episodes of the limited series, and she was one of the best new characters introduced. New Blood was supposed to be the final season to wrap everything up, but if they'd known they would end up rebooting the franchise again with Resurrection, Molly Park might've been kept around longer.

Molly Park was the sassy host of a true-crime podcast called 'Merry F**k**g Kill', and she rocked up in Iron Lake to offer her investigative skills to Chief Angela Bishop. She was scouring the location for inspiration for an episode based on the disappearance of Matt Caldwell, who was killed by Dexter Morgan. Little did she know, she was entering a town where not one, but two serial killers resided. Harrison Morgan listens to Molly's podcast and stumbles upon an episode based on The Trinity Killer, who killed his mother, Rita Bennett. It's also revealed that she's covered the Bay Harbor Butcher case and The Ice Truck Killer, among other real life true crime cases.

If only Kurt Caldwell hadn't killed Molly, she could've played a very interesting role in the upcoming sequel, Dexter: Resurrection. Her knowledge of Dexter's crimes would've made her a vital resource for Miami Metro Homicide in their investigation. However, the Dexter-verse doesn't mind bringing back deceased characters, whether it's as Dexter's Ghost, or via flashbacks. In Molly's case, she could be brought back using her podcast appearances, and it would be a good way to still feature the popular character from beyond the grave. Even if it was just a brief Easter egg for fans, it would be fun to see the quirky crime fighter again.

Jamie Chung Recently Appeared On YouTube Series 'Dexter's Kill Room' So This Could Hint She's Still In The Plans For The Future

Paramount+ are keen to drum up interest in the Dexter-verse, with the upcoming release of Dexter: Original Sin in December 2024, followed by the Michael C. Hall-led sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection, in summer 2025. They have called upon former members of the cast to take part in their YouTube companion series, Dexter's Kill Room, to watch old episodes of the original series with special guests. So far, it's been Erik King, who played James Doakes and C. S Lee, who played fan favorite, Vince Masuka, appearing in three episodes each. The latest episode saw C. S Lee joined by Jamie Chung, who played Molly Park in Dexter: New Blood.

  • C. S Lee and Tim Chantarangsu Watch S3 Ep 5 'Turning Biminese'
  • C. S Lee and Jamie Chung Watch Season 4 Finale 'The Getaway'

Jamie Chung is clearly still in the thoughts of the creative team behind Dexter: Resurrection, and her appearance on Dexter's Kill Room also puts her back into the hearts and minds of fans, ahead of the new series. She offered some brilliant insights into the show, and her chemistry with C. S Lee was great, despite them never actually appearing together in the Dexter-verse. True-crime podcasts are very relevant in the modern era, and it's definitely a possibility that the character of Molly Park could become an even bigger star in the aftermath of her death in Dexter: Resurrection.

Dexter: Resurrection could run for multiple seasons, so Dexter will need to escape punishment at least for now, and there's an ironic way of doing it.
