It's easy to refund skill points and respec to a new build in Diablo 4 – what is not as easy is how much gold respeccing can cost.

The unique Druid class mechanic in Diablo 4 is the Spirit Boons system, which gives players a choice of enhancements themed after four Spirits who demand Offerings. A short quest must be completed to access the system, and Offerings must be collected and made to these Spirits to unlock all choices. Essentially, Druids get an additional set of passives to choose from thanks to this system.

Updated October 23, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: In Diablo 4, Spirit Boons are the unique Druid class feature that lets players customize Druid builds beyond their normal skills, gear, and Paragon points. For Druids, Spirit Boons come in four varieties – the Eagle, Wolf, Deer, and Snake – each of which has four different passive abilities that you can select to become permanent passives on your character. After several updates since the launch of Diablo 4, Druid Spirit offerings still work the same way they did on release, but many Spirit Boon skills have been updated over the last six seasons. This guide to the Diablo 4 Spirit Boon system for Druids has been updated to reflect the current stats and effects of each Spirit Boon in Diablo 4 Season 6.

How To Unlock Druid Spirit Boons in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Unique Class Mechanic Druid Spirit Boons Baelgemoth Boss Tur Dulra

The Druid's Spirit Boons system unlocks at level 15, at which point players will be directed to Túr Dulra, a Stronghold in Scosglen. To gain access to the Spirit abilities, a short unique class quest must be completed called "Spirits of the Lost Grove." It takes place entirely in Scosglen, so don't worry about monsters being too high-level as the area should scale enemies no matter how early one arrives.

After clearing the stronghold, and defeating its final boss Baelgemoth, find a druid named Ardeth amongst the new townsfolk who return to Túr Dulra. He directs the player to free the trapped spirit of the Spirit Lord, who can be found at a marked location in Scosglen. Speak to the Spirit Lord upon arrival and the meaty deer asks the Wanderer to retrieve its skull and return it to Túr Dulra.

Once again, pin Fainne, The Abandoned Grove on your map and follow the guide on the minimap to get there. Retrieve the Spirit Lord's skull from the Goatmen who inhabit the Grove, then return to Túr Dulra and give the skull to Ardeth to complete the Druid class questline and unlock access to Spirit Boons.

After Level 15, even if Druids haven't unlocked the system yet, Druid Spirit Offerings will begin to drop from monsters all over Sanctuary. There's a small chance for practically every enemy in Diablo 4 to drop these, so there's not really any better way to farm Spirit Offerings in Diablo 4 than to simply wander around killing. Spirit Offerings will stay in your inventory even if the Spirit Boons system hasn't been unlocked, so there's no reason not to pick them up after reaching Level 15.

Diablo 4: How To Unlock Season Blessings (& What They Do)

Season Blessings can be upgraded throughout Diablo 4 Season 4, granting strong Seasonal bonuses through its unique Smoldering Ashes system.

There are four Spirits in Tur Dulra that players can give Offerings to: the Deer, the Wolf, the Snake, and the Eagle. Each Spirit has a selection of four passives that can be unlocked as part of a track – the more Offerings given to a spirit, the more passives become available. The only exception is the Snake, which requires 100 Spirit Offerings up front.

Druids can select one passive from each of the Spirits for a total of four, but another one can be selected after unlocking all 16 Spirit Boons for a total of five. Each Spirit can be given a total of 100 Offerings, and a new passive unlocks for every 25.

A total of 400 Spirit Offerings are needed to unlock all passives and the fifth equippable skill slot – that might sound like a lot compared to other class requirements, but they tend to drop in large clusters and most players will be able to completely unlock the system by around Level 40 to 50.

Though every class has received significant updates since the launch of Diablo 4, especially with the Vessel of Hatred DLC, the Spirit Boon system still works largely the same way as it did before. However, the specifics of each Spirit Boon's stat boosts and special effects have changed. If you haven't kept up with these updates, check over the various current Spirit Boon effects below to bring yourself up to speed with the Spirit Boons system in Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred.
