If you're trying to min-max your gear in Diablo 4, then you'll have to make thorough use of the game's Tempering and Masterworking system. Both are designed to give players more agency in terms of what stats their items get, but if you already have your god rolls, then you'll have to rely on the latter to gain even more power, and for that, you'll need Obducite.
Obducite is the main resource needed for Masterworking gear. It's a bit scarce, but if you know where to look, you'll have all the Obducite you need in no time. If you want to make the most out of Legendary or Unique items like the Wound Drinker in Diablo 4, here's how you can get all the Obducite you'll ever need to Masterwork them with.
Diablo 4: Endgame Rake Spiritborn Build
The new Spiritborn Class from Diablo 4 has a number of viable builds, but the Rake build is one of the best. Learn how to make it here.
Where To Farm Obducite in Diablo 4
Obducite is a late game crafting material that's reserved for Uniques and twice-tempered Legendary items. There are three main ways to farm large quantities of them, and players can expect to get even more per run based on what difficulty they're playing on. The three main Obducite farms are:
Infernal Hordes
The Infernal Hordes activity is a great way to get both gear and crafting materials. Here, players will fend off waves of demons while collecting Aether, a type of currency exclusive to Infernal Hordes that's used to open chests at the end of the activity. One of these chests yield nothing but gem fragments Obducite, and you can easily get thousands of Obducite per run this way.
The thing about farming Infernal Hordes is that you need to get Infernal Compasses first. You can get some by opening Helltide chests and Tree of Whispers caches. Completing Nightmare Dungeons and The Pit runs may also yield some compasses.
Nightmare Dungeons
Speaking of Nightmare Dungeons, you can also get a ton of crafting materials from these along with some decent loot, provided you have Nightmare Dungeon Keys to spare. Doing a Nightmare Dungeon is easier and faster to complete compared to a single Infernal Hordes run, but it also yields slightly less Obducite on average.
Nightmare Dungeons are generally more profitable, as not only do you get gear just by defeating enemies and looting chests, but you also get more stuff in general. This includes materials needed for summoning Diablo 4 bosses like the Beast in Ice.
Kurast Undercity
The last good source of Obducite is the Kurast Undercity dungeon introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion. This activity lets players pick and choose what loot they get via the Tributes and Bargains system. For Obducite farming, you'll want to get the Tribute of Refinement, which will reward you with Masterworking Materials upon completion.
Tributes are obtained randomly, and unless you're using the Tribute of Refinement, you likely won't get any Obducite at all. If Obducite farming is your main goal, then stick with either Nightmare Dungeons or Infernal Hordes until you get the necessary Tribute.
