The Keening Spirit is a short and simple side quest in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred that will have players searching the jungle for a distressed spirit. Given how Nahantu is positively overflowing with monsters at the moment, this job may not be as easy as some players might expect.

Finding the missing soul is tricky, but with a bit of patience, you should be able to find it in no time. The quest itself doesn't give much, but if you want to level up as quickly as possible during the relatively long Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred campaign, then this should be a worthwhile detour to take.

You can start this quest by speaking with Nunir, a citizen of Kurast who is helping another person that's writhing on the floor. The pair will tell you that there's a spirit somewhere in the jungle that's calling for help. You can find these quest givers in Upper Kurast, near the place where you start the Tenets of Depravity quest in Diablo 4.

The spirit in question is called Banshe, and you can find it in the jungle just south of the quest's starting location. Its general area will be marked on your map, but for convenience's sake, the exact location of the spirit is indicated in the image above.

There's a possibility that Banshe may be found in some other spot within the indicated area. In any case, a message will pop up in your chat box saying that you are fighting an elite enemy. That means that Banshe and the monster tormenting it are nearby.

To help the spirit, all you need to do is kill the Spirit-Gorged Hollow. As usual, it will be surrounded by a horde of other monsters. The Spiritborn's Centipede builds in Diablo 4 are particularly adept at clearing hordes, but literally any other build will do just fine.

Killing the Spirit-Gorged Hollow will automatically complete the quest. For your troubles, you'll get some XP, Gold, and Obols, which you can spend at a Purveyor of Curiosities in hopes of getting some well-rolled Legendary or even Unique gear.

In normal circumstances, players should be able to find the distressed spirit just by wandering the blue quest area. However, there have been reports of bugs that cause the spirit to simply not appear, rendering the Keening Spirit quest impossible to finish. In our case, Banshe appeared a few seconds after defeating the Spirit-Gorged Hollow. If you do find this monster, stick around for a bit and wait for a humanoid ghost to appear.
