Forgotten Souls are Rare Crafting Materials in Diablo 4 that are used to upgrade and reroll Ancestral items. As such, this material plays a very important role in the endgame, and players may want to put some amount of effort toward farming it.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred – Quill Volley Spiritborn Build Guide
The Quill Volley Spiritborn build is one of the best Diablo 4 builds available in Season 6 – here's what you need to make this best Spiritborn build.
Thanks to changes that came after the launch of the Vessel of Hatred DLC, Forgotten Souls drop from more sources than they normally would. This guide details the best ways to get Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4, which can then be used en masse to max out your max-level character's endgame gear.
How to Farm Forgotten Souls In Diablo 4
Farm Forgotten Souls In Helltides
The original way to earn Forgotten Souls is to participate in Helltides, special events that last for one hour and rotate between zones. Notifications should appear when a Helltide is about to begin and when the Helltide is about to end.
Once a Helltide event has started, players should make their way to the areas on Diablo 4's map that have turned red and start grinding enemies. Focus on finding and mining Screaming Hell Veins, summoning and defeating Helltide Harbingers, and defeating The Blood Maiden for optimal Forgotten Soul farming.
Not only will these activities occasionally award Forgotten Souls, they are also sources for Aberrant Cinders. This currency is used to open chests within the Helltide, and there is one type upon which players should focus. Open Tortured Gift of Mysteries chests with 250 Abberant Cinders to get the highest amount of loot, a totally random selection of rewards, and a chunk of Forgotten Souls.
Only one Tortured Gift of Mysteries chest will spawn per area per Helltide event, for a total of two Chests per event. There are other type of Tortured Gifts that will appear on your map, but the Tortured Gifts of Mysteries in each zone is highlighted in Orange on the Helltide map. Because two areas are always encapsulated by the Helltide, players have the opportunity to open two chests before the event concludes.
How to Level Fast in Diablo 4 Season 6
When it comes to ways to level fast in Diablo 4, Season 6 presents players with a few new options, but the tried and true leveling methods still work.
One final thing to mention is that Tortured Gift of Mysteries chest seemingly award more Forgotten Souls at higher Torment Tiers. As such, players that want to obtain this material should aim to complete the Pit levels that are required for each Torment Tier. As you raise your Torment level up to the max Torment 4, the chance for high-level items (including Mythic Uniques) and high-level materials (including Forgotten Souls) increases substantially.
Forgotten Souls Farm – Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Sources
With the release of Vessel of Hatred, Forgotten Souls became a much-sought-after resource. To address the lack of ways to get Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4, a Hotfix was rolled out to grant other endgame activities the chance to drop Forgotten Souls.
As you raise your Torment Tier, of course, enemies will drop more Forgotten Souls in the Helltides. But now you can also complete Whisper Caches, Nightmare Dungeons, summonable Boss encounters, The Dark Citadel, and Kurast Undercity to get Forbidden Souls, too. And thanks to the buffed drop rates, these endgame activities tend to be the fastest ways to get Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4's Season 6.
Though you should complete Helltides whenever you get the chance for other reasons, if you get tired of that event, swap over to take on Whispers across the world, activate a few NM dungeons, summon some Tormented bosses, or take on the Dark Citadel.
Be sure that you are in a Torment tier for the chance to get this resource. It does not drop at lower Torment tiers.
You can also take on the Kurast Undercity, which after the hotfix should now have an option to target Crafting Materials (including Forgotten Souls) for completing the Kurast Undercity dungeon. This is a new feature in Season 6, and some players have reported issues with the low amount of total rewards gained, so stick with the other methods to get Forgotten Souls until a fix is rolled out to make Kurast Undercity rewards more worth the cost of entry.
