Diablo 4 allows players to personalize their character in multiple ways beyond names and clothing. Besides these customization options, players have also been able to unlock various words by completing challenges in Diablo 4 to combine them to make the perfect title for their character.
With plenty of words to choose from, many players have gotten creative on what their title will be, some of these options are very cool, while many are sure to give the other players they encounter quite the laugh. These are by far some of the funniest titles seen in the game, and often unlocking the titles is part of the game's reward system for a hard day's grind.
Updated on September 25, 2023, by Kristy Ambrose: The launch of Diablo 4 has been a virtual roller-coaster ride, with the initial honeymoon period now over and tapering into a sobering era of lowered expectations. Despite the fan response to some of the patches, nerfs, additions, and changes, the trend of funny and creative titles remains a constant. From the class choices and character customization in the game, such as using the transmog to alter the player's armor, unique title combinations are one of the ways players can make a character their own.
8 The Goat
- Prefix: Complete the "Ally of the Bear Tribe" questline.
- Suffix: Slay 1,000 Goatmen.
Some players may have decided to call themselves The Goat, the suffix being a popular acronym of the phrase "greatest of all time." However, in Diablo 4, this title refers to the Goat people that players are more than likely to encounter on their travels of Sanctuary, specifically the ones that have to be slain to gain this title.
"The" has a lot of potential to be combined with other words to make for a hilarious title. Though The Goat is certainly one that will get a short laugh out of all those who encounter this title in the wild, other funny examples include titles with the prefixes "seasoned" and "rotten."
Cooking isn't something that players would associate Diablo 4 with; however, there seem to be a lot of Seasoned Goats running around Sanctuary. Rotten Goat has the opposite effect of Seasoned Goat with many steering clear of this foul-smelling player.
7 Unholy Nightmare
- Prefix and Suffix: Complete all Sacred Nightmare Dungeons.
Another great title some players are sure to encounter when they adventure into the main cities is those that are using the name Unholy Nightmare. While there are even funnier names to be found, the combination of Unholy and Nightmare is incredibly clever with many likely to find inspiration in that player's title.
Though many players that have decided on this name may hope to become a threat many others who see this name may have a different sort of reaction to it. It also stays on theme with the dark fantasy atmosphere of Diablo 4 which draws so many fans to the game.
6 Distracted Adventurer
- Prefix: Get 25 kills using Conjurations.
- Suffix: Equip a Magic or higher quality item in every gear slot.
Is there any other kind? In the latest game of the Diablo franchise, many players will be able to relate to this title. With so many side quests, strongholds, and dungeons to explore, quite a few players are sure to see themselves as Distracted Adventurers.
Some of these adventurers are proud enough of their adventuring to display for all to see that they are likely to get distracted when exploring Sanctuary. This is sure to make some fellow Diablo 4 players chuckle when they encounter these relatable people emptying their inventory from another distracting adventure away from the main campaign.
5 Anxious Chef
- Prefix: Complete a Tier 5 Nightmare Dungeon.
- Suffix: Kill the Butcher in Hardcore Mode.
Some titles are worn as badges of pride for completing a difficult dungeon, finishing a tough quest, or killing a strong enemy. It's not such a massive accomplishment to complete a Nightmare dungeon, although it's not exactly easy, but killing the notorious Butcher in Hardcore Mode is nigh impossible except for the most skilled and dedicated player.
The Butcher appears randomly in various dungeons, delves, or cellars throughout Sanctuary, so it's impossible to prepare for a fight until the character literally runs into the horrific thing. For those in the know, this is one of the most prestigious titles in the game and one of the toughest to get, besides being funny.
4 Potential Commoner
- Prefix: Upgrade the Healing Potion at the Alchemist.
- Suffix: Claim an Altar of Lilith.
Unfortunately, there is no default NPC name for players to use in Diablo 4. However, some players have found a workaround for this. Using the Commoner title, players are practically calling themselves one. They have bonded with the people around town that they are likely to aid during their adventures.
Combining this with the likes of the title Potential makes for an even funnier meaning. As a Potential Commoner, instead of sounding like an NPC, the player sounds as if they are revealing they are losing a lot of gold in Diablo 4, be it through purchasing things from the merchant to gambling away their murmuring Obols.
3 Early Casualty
- Prefix: Grind a character to level 20 during Open Beta or Early Access.
- Suffix: Go to Kyovashad during Open Beta or Early Access.
Another funny but rare title some players have been using while they explore is Early Casualty. This name could have two meanings, one being significantly funnier than the other; with this, players may either be suggesting that those who encounter them will die quickly or that they are really quick to die.
Either way, a player is sure to get a kick out of those they encounter when having this title float underneath their character's name. Casualty is another word that also has the potential to be used with others to make more hilarious combinations.
2 Grave Coordinator
- Prefix: Slay 1,000 skeletons.
- Suffix: Complete a Local Event while in a party of two or more.
It's funny for any class, but there's something special about a Necromancer with this title. There are so many possibilities, especially for those who specialize in raising armies of the undead, and it can be taken literally or used as a pun.
Taken literally, this can be interpreted as one that organizes burials and is therefore happy to fill those holes. Used as an expression, the word grave can also mean a serious person, so this is a player who slays with determination.
1 Legendary Trash
- Prefix: Gather all of the legendary-level crafting material; Coiling Ward, Abstruse Sigil, and Baleful Fragment.
- Suffix: Available from level 1.
Out of all the available names in Diablo 4, most players that are using titles have favored the word Trash. Unsurprisingly this has led to many combinations of different titles with some calling themselves Legendary Trash while others have simply gone for The Trash.
When entering the main cities of Sanctuary, a player is sure to see several others using Trash in some way. The sheer number of variations has led to it being one of the funniest titles to be seen in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
