Diablo 4: Season 5 has a new currency called Mother's Gifts that will be earned and used to rank up the seasonal rewards with Istel. There are only so many ranks of Mother's Gifts, but they will progressively get stronger, eventually offering the players very powerful gear newly added with the season.
Players will first need to start the season and finish the first quest, Of Lambs and Wolves, but will then start farming Mother's Gifts freely. Unlike previous seasons, farming Mother's Gifts and getting rewards from Istel is key to unlocking the additional missions of the season and seeing where the story goes.
Diablo 4 Spiritborn Class Preview: King of the Jungle
The Best War Games spends a few hours with Diablo 4's Spiritborn class, which will likely take build crafting to new heights come release.
How To Get Mother's Gifts In Diablo 4
The amount of Mother's Gifts you have can be checked by visiting Istel. Mother's Gifts aren't used when increasing your rank, and instead continue to total up to reach milestones that let you claim the rank; giving you a seasonal total of all Mother's Gifts earned. Mother's Gifts are dropped from powerful enemies, without being tied to any specific areas or activities. These powerful enemies include:
- Elites
- Champions
- Hellborne
- Bosses
Overall, Mother's Gifts will be earned naturally as you complete activities, dungeons, and missions to face powerful foes. Some of these powerful foes can be wandered upon naturally while exploring the world, but this is not an advisable method to try and get more ranks from Mother's Gifts to strengthen your character faster. Luckily there are a few methods players use to increase the amount of powerful enemies you face.
Diablo 4: 13 Rarest Items in the Game
Diablo 4 is rife with riches and gear to collect. Here are the rarest and most exclusive among them.
How To Farm Mother's Gifts In Diablo 4
While Mother's Gifts are dropped through a few methods, there are a few things players can focus on to speed up the amount earned. The amount of Mother's Gifts earned from killing a demon is determined by how powerful it is, with strong bosses offering a lot more than Elites.
|
Method |
Explanation |
|---|---|
|
Hellbreaches |
Hellbreaches are new dungeons added to Season 5 that have players hunting down Aether Fiends which usually drop a couple of Mother's Gifts. Hellbreaches also end in difficult boss fights, giving players additional Mother's Gifts if they can defeat the demons. |
|
Cellars/Dungeons |
Cellars and Dungeons are usually short side locations to explore but usually have a small boss of some kind at the end. While these bosses usually only give one or two Mother's Gifts at a time, they can be found and completed easily. |
|
Summon Bosses |
Many bosses can be summoned using various materials and offer great challenges for those wanting large sums of loot, such as using Malignant Hearts to summon Varshan. |
|
Helltides |
Helltides often have stronger demons wandering around more often that can drop Mother's Gifts. Should players slay enough demons and make hell angry, Hellborne enemies will spawn and attempt to kill the player. |
|
Accursed Ritual |
The Accursed Ritual uses Baneful Hearts and is easily farmable during a Helltide. There will often be large groups of players taking down this boss at once, offering a much easier fight than most other options on this list. |
|
Strongholds |
Strongholds are useful but the least farmable method. Strongholds offer difficult bosses towards the end but usually require a bit of work to first get to them. |
