Diablo 4's Season of Witchcraft has arrived, and it has added a brand new questline to the game. This new series of quests introduces the central mechanics of Season 7, and fans who want to engage with the seasonal offerings will need to work through it. The first step in that process is starting the Season 7 quest in Diablo 4, and this guide explains exactly how that is done.
The way by which the Season 7 quest is started is contingent upon whether a player owns the Vessel of Hatred expansion and if they have completed its campaign. Indeed, Diablo 4 players who have bought the expansion but have not finished its campaign will have some additional work to do before they can dive into the Season of Witchcraft, though it should not take too long to address that work.

Diablo 4: How to Start Season 7
Create a Seasonal Character
Players who want to experience Diablo 4's Season of Witchcraft should begin by creating a Seasonal character. Fans will have the opportunity to select the Seasonal option when they reach the "finalize" tab during character creation, though they should read through the next section before they choose "start game."
Confirm Campaign State
There is a button that allows players to change campaign state near the top of the "finalize" menu, and they should click on that button, pursue one of the following options, and start the game:
- If the player does not own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, they should opt to skip the original campaign.
- If the player does own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, and has completed its campaign at least once, they should opt to start with its campaign completed.
- If the player does own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, and has not completed its campaign at least once, they should start with its campaign.
Talk to Gelena in Gea Kul
Players who have skipped the original campaign or the Vessel of Hatred campaign, should find that they have a seasonal waypoint in Gea Kul as soon as their characters enter Diablo 4's Sanctuary. That waypoint marks Gelena, and fans should speak with her to start the Oaths and Debts seasonal quest.
However, if the player has started with the Vessel of Hatred campaign, they will need to complete its prologue before they can speak with Gelena. For full clarity, the DLC's prologue begins with a quest called Rekindled Faith and ends with a quest called Enmity Rising, and the aforementioned seasonal waypoint will appear in Gea Kul as soon as fans work through it.
