Diablo 4's endgame activities have grown considerably since the Blizzard title's release, with the newest addition being the Infernal Hordes. The Infernal Hordes is a wave-based instance that requires the player to survive powerful enemies while farming Burning Aether, which can be turned in for valuable loot. However, this activity will not unlock automatically when players jump into the game.
To unlock the Infernal Hordes in both the Eternal and the Seasonal Realm, players must reach the appropriate World Tier and finish a Priority Quest. Then, they need to farm a rare item to unlock each Infernal Hordes run. With this guide, players can learn how to unlock the Infernal Hordes in Diablo 4, where in Sanctuary this game mode is located, and how to run Infernal Hordes once they have been unlocked on your account.

Diablo 4 players can use this guide to learn the most efficient way to level up as fast as possible.
Requirements To Unlock The Infernal Hordes In Diablo 4
The Infernal Hordes game mode is gated behind several prerequisite activities. However, these must only be completed once per account. To participate in the Infernal Hordes Mode, players must have:
- Finished (or skipped) the Campaign with their current character
- Reached a minimum of World Tier 3 with their current character
- Finished the "Eyes of the Enemy" Priority Questline
Once Infernal Hordes are unlocked for the first time, they will remain so. However, players will still need to play in World Tier 3+ to fight the Infernal Hordes.
Where To Find The Gate To The Infernal Hordes In Diablo 4
The Gate to the Realm of Hatred, where the Infernal Hordes are located, is a familiar place for most Diablo 4 players. It is located in Caldeum, in the same location players entered hell to fight Lilith during the campaign.
Players will only need to physically visit this location once during the "Eyes of the Enemy" quest chain. All other Infernal Horde encounters can be entered from anywhere on the map, similar to Nightmare Dungeons.
How To Enter The Realm Of Hatred In Diablo 4
Entering the Ream of Hatred and, thus, the Infernal Hordes game mode requires the player to use an Infernal Compass. This resource behaves similarly to Nightmare Sigils and can be upgraded to higher tiers for more difficult enemies and better loot. Infernal Compasses can drop from the following activities:
- Helltide Chests of Mystery or Steel
- Nightmare Dungeons
- The Pit
- Whisper Caches
- Crafted at the Occultist with Sigil Powder and Forgotten Souls
