As a surprise bonus tacked on to Diablo 4 update 2.3.2, players can enjoy the return of the March of the Goblins event from now until August 5. This event sees Diablo 4's Treasure Goblins out in full force, with the rare enemy having a higher-than-usual chance of spawning. Slaying these enemies can reward players with loot in spades, meaning players will want to take advantage of the event while it's active.
Diablo 4's Treasure Goblins can be somewhat tricky to take down, given their tendency to flee as soon as they are spotted. As such, players will need to carefully consider how they approach the March of the Goblins event in order to have the best chance of slaying these fiends and claiming their rewards. Luckily, the Diablo 4 community has developed several unwritten rules for success that players participating in this event would be wise to follow for the best chance at maximizing the goodies they earn.

Keep a Close Eye on the Mini-Map
When out and about in Sanctuary, players can quickly find themselves surrounded by a horde of enemies. In the midst of this type of battle, it can be hard to spot Treasure Goblins among the other Diablo 4 enemies on screen. That's why it's always a good idea to keep an eye on the mini-map, since Treasure Goblins will show up there with a unique icon to denote their locations. It's usually easier to see this icon on the mini-map than it is to see the Goblin in the overworld, potentially saving players from losing the fleeing goblin as it ducks into groups of demons.
Helltides Are the Place to Be During March of the Goblins
While it might seem counterintuitive to go to a location where more enemies stand between the player and a goblin, Diablo 4's Helltides are actually the best place to farm Treasure Goblins during the March of the Goblins event. Since Helltides have denser enemy spawns than usual, goblins end up having a higher chance of spawning here as a result. The only downside is that the danger posed by the other monsters present within an active Helltide can be a hurdle players will need to overcome when hunting down a Treasure Goblin.
Players may also have better luck finding goblins in the Fields of Hatred PvP location. Turning off crossplay reduces the chance of encountering an enemy player while hunting for goblins here.
Activate Any Greed Shrines Nearby
As players hunt for goblins throughout Sanctuary, it's a good idea to activate any Greed Shrine they come across. Typically, triggering a Greed Shrine causes enemies to drop additional gold when hit with an attack, but it has the added effect of increasing the chance of a Treasure Goblin spawning while the Shrine is active. Compounding this Shrine's effect with the increased spawn chance from the March of the Goblins event is a great way to maximize the chance of finding one of these elusive creatures.
Pay Attention to a Treasure Goblin's Color
In Diablo 4 Season 7, Treasure Goblins got a makeover, and six variants of the enemy were introduced. Each of these variants is a different color and has various rewards associated with it. As such, players participating in the March of the Goblins would be wise to memorize the color that corresponds to the type of reward they're hoping to earn from a goblin so that they can effectively prepare themselves for hunting during this event.
- Odious Ector (Green) – Drops crafting materials
- Gilded Baron (Yellow) – Drops large sums of Gold
- Glittering Prym (Diamond) – Drops Gem Fragments, Runes, and Undercity Tributes
- Curious Murl (Purple) – Drops Murl's Bag of Obols
- Gelatinous Syrus (Blue) – Splits into multiple goblins when killed. Drops Legendary gear, Gold, Boss Summoning materials, and Elixirs
- Fancy Old Fedric (Mythic Purple) – Drops a Mythic and a Resplendent Spark
While finding Fancy Old Fedric sounds like a dream come true for players hoping to snag Diablo 4's best Mythics in Season 9, the chances of encountering this goblin are incredibly slim, somewhere near a 1-in-a-million chance. However, other goblins like Curious Murl, Glittering Prym, and Gelatinous Syrus are still very much worth the player's while, since their drops can be useful at nearly any stage in Diablo 4's season journey. Players just need to be careful not to mistake Murl for Fedric since both goblins are shades of purple.
