As Diablo 4 Season 10 fatigue starts to set in as mid-season approaches, Blizzard is offering players a great reason to keep coming back to the game to finish their builds. Starting October 28, Diablo 4 players will get the chance to participate in two concurrent events: Mother's Blessing and Seasonal Splendor. While these events are welcome bonuses perfect for getting over that mid-season hump, the lack of a unique Halloween event leaves a lot to be desired.
Diablo 4's seasonal events tend to follow a similar pattern each season, cycling through the same events to coincide with where most players are in their seasonal journeys. Gift of the Tree is usually first up to give players extra chances to earn Uniques and Legendaries from Whisper Caches, while Mother's Blessing and Seasonal Splendor typically come later to give players the chance to earn the resources needed to complete their builds. However, these events are old hat by this point, losing some of the excitement that a new themed event could bring.
Diablo 4 Offers Players a 2-for-1 Deal on Events for Halloween
Mother's Blessing Gives Diablo 4 Players Increased XP
- 35% XP Increase
- 50% Gold Increase
For Diablo 4 players still looking to level their character to the 60 level cap or advance their Paragon level up to level 300, Mother's Blessing is truly a treat this Halloween. This event grants all players a 35% increase to the XP they earn, as well as a 50% increase to Gold drops. Even if players have taken a break from Diablo 4 Season 10 while the Season 11 PTR is underway, it's a good idea to hop back into Season 10 while this event is active to stockpile these resources while they have a boosted drop rate.
Seasonal Splendor Allows Diablo 4 Players to Earn More Infernal Warp
- Increases the amount of Infernal Warp dropped from all sources
Any Diablo 4 player who still needs to level up their Chaos Perks will want to take advantage of the increased Infernal Warp drops during the Seasonal Splendor event. The best Infernal Warp farm in Diablo 4 involves running Nightmare Dungeons with the Chaos Rifts affix, so diving into these dungeons during the Seasonal Splendor event is ideal. Even if their Chaos Perks are at max level, Infernal Warp can be traded in for Warp Scrolls that grant Viz-Jaqtaar Veneration, which increases the player's seasonal reputation and allows them to farm Greater Infernal Caches for Chaos Armor.
Diablo 4 Misses the Perfect Opportunity for a Dedicated Halloween-Themed Event
Despite this double dose of Diablo 4 events, the Halloween season feels incomplete without an in-game, themed celebration. Diablo 4 is no stranger to recurring, seasonally-themed events, with the Midwinter Blight event occurring in December and the Lunar Awakening event taking place in February. With the horror-adjacent elements of Diablo 4's hellish world, going all-out on a Halloween celebration event seems like a no-brainer, yet it has never been capitalized on during the game's lifespan.
There are plenty of directions Diablo 4 could take for a potential Halloween event, such as one suggested by Diablo 4' s Lead Encounter Designer, Owen Leach, who presented a concept for a Headless Horseman enemy that functions similarly to Diablo 4's Butcher. The idea is that this boss could potentially spawn anywhere in Sanctuary without warning and force players into a challenging but rewarding boss fight, allowing players to earn special Halloween-themed cosmetics for defeating the foe. It's clear that fans are on board with this type of Halloween event, with the Diablo 4 Reddit community showing strong support for a Headless Horseman boss fight.
With this type of idea floating around the Diablo 4 dev team, it's unclear why it hasn't been added to the game yet. Even if they are somewhat underwhelming, players can still enjoy the Mother's Blessing and Seasonal Splendor events in the meantime.
