A few days ago, Blizzard Entertainment shared the patch notes for Diablo 4's upcoming tenth season on its official website. The season, which is themed around the concept of chaos, will make some significant changes to Infernal Hordes, a popular mode in the game that lets players fight waves of demons in order to earn Burning Aether. Blizzard revealed that Diablo 4 Season 10 will also feature two new types of bonuses, as well as an IP collaboration and an unlockable pet. While the season itself is scheduled to launch on September 23, players will be able to test the new content out via Diablo 4' s Public Test Realm from August 19-26.
Diablo 4's tenth season (also known as Infernal Chaos) will not completely fix the endless grinding issues that the game has suffered from lately. That said, one of the two new bonuses that will be featured in the update, the Chaos Armor, will arguably be the most significant mechanic added to the game in recent memory. Chaos Armor — not to be confused with the Diablo 2 armor set of the same name — is basically a new type of equipment that has many of the advantages of Unique Items, as well as a few extra benefits.
Chaos Armor is One of the Biggest New Features in Diablo 4 Season 10
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, Unique Items are one of the most valuable Diablo 4 loot types. Originally introduced in Diablo 2, they are basically the more powerful equivalent of the Legendaries in the game. Although they can be acquired on all difficulty settings, those who play Diablo 4 on Torment 1 or above will have a higher chance of obtaining them. Even when a player obtains a Unique Item, though, they can only trade it with other players if it has not been tempered or masterworked yet, and they can't extract its essence, either.
Much like Diablo 2 items, Diablo 4 also has its own form of Legendary Items. In the game, Legendaries are at a lower tier of rarity than Uniques.
Chaos Armor Will Basically Serve as a Better Version of the Unique Items in Diablo 4
Although these two mechanics don't function in the exact same way, the Chaos Armor that will be introduced in Diablo 4 Season 10 will, as previously mentioned, serve as an even stronger variant of the Unique Item category. Chaos Armor draws from Diablo 4's Unique Items pool and always spawns with both Maximum power and a minimum of one Greater Affix.
That said, they can only appear for specific armor slots (helms, gloves, boots, pants, and chestplates) and as an item fit for anything other than its original slot. It's also worth noting that players cannot equip the Chaos and Normal versions of the same Unique Diablo 4 item simultaneously.

Like With Most of Diablo 4's Seasonal Content, Chaos Armor Will Only Be Around for a Limited Time
As great as Chaos Armor sounds, it does come with one major caveat: it will only be available for a limited time. Like with most of the content that is introduced in Diablo 4's seasonal updates, Chaos Armor will likely be phased out of the game once Season 10 comes to an end.
Players will probably want to grind for as much of Diablo 4's Chaos Armor as they can before Season 11 starts; otherwise, they may not have the opportunity to use this loot again anytime in the near future.
Considering that Diablo 4 isn't the only game on the market that removes seasonal features after a certain period of time, Blizzard's decision to handle content this way isn't that surprising. Although the practice of vaulting features does have its benefits, many fans have objected to the idea, claiming that it contributes too much to Diablo 4's FOMO and is detrimental to its overall longevity. While it's unlikely that Blizzard will walk back its plans to release seasonal updates for Diablo 4 anytime soon, perhaps it may consider making Chaos Armor a permanent feature if enough fans advocate for it.
