Diablo 4 Season 10 is shaping up to be one of the most expansive single seasons outside of a new expansion the game has seen yet. The recent patch notes released for Diablo 4's Season of Infernal Chaos detail a wave of changes coming to the game alongside the heaps of new seasonal content players will be able to enjoy. However, not every change in the Season 10 patch notes is positive, leaving some parts of the update lacking.

Overall, the Diablo 4 Season 10 patch notes look to be a net positive for the game, fixing several glaring issues still present in the game 10 seasons later. Additionally, Chaos Perks and new Uniques have been tweaked mostly for the better, giving players a lot of room to craft interesting new builds for the season's new Infernal Hordes boss, Bartuc, Lord of Chaos. Even the negatives of this season's patch notes aren't worth worrying about too much, as the worst changes are still minor compared to the greater whole.

The Best Changes in Diablo 4 Season 10's Patch Notes

Diablo 4 Season 10 Revealed

Mandatory Immunity Phases Removed from Bosses

Perhaps the most necessary change coming with Diablo 4 Season 10 is a rework of the immunity phases for Lair Bosses. Previously, certain bosses like Uber Lilith and Andariel would force players to complete a phase of their respective fights where they are invulnerable and pelt players with an onslaught of attacks that even the best Diablo 4 builds had trouble surviving. Now, players are rewarded for optimizing their build's DPS, since players can bypass these immunity phases if they defeat the boss within 10 seconds, preventing the phase from triggering. As a result, farming these bosses should be much easier and more efficient in Season 10.

Necromancer Minions Now Respawn with Players

A small but impactful change Diablo 4's Necromancer receives this season is a fix that allows their minions to respawn with their character. Previously, Necromancers had to resummon their minions from corpses after respawning, which could be difficult to do at the start of a boss fight. Now, Minion Necromancers in Diablo 4 Season 10 won't have to worry about dying to a boss like Astaroth and losing their summons, as this fix ensures the character will always respawn with the minions they had summoned when defeated.

Sorcerer's Best Chaos Perk Gets Even Better

There is a lot of hype surrounding the Sorcerer heading into Diablo 4 Season 10, and part of this buzz comes from the class's Unique Chaos Perk, Mana Shield. This perk essentially allows the Sorcerer to use its Mana as its health pool, with a 5,000% Mana Regeneration rate after not taking damage over a certain period of time. In the Diablo 4 Season 10 PTR, players who avoided damage for 4 seconds received this increased Mana Regeneration, but the patch notes for Season 10 gave this overpowered perk a slight buff by reducing this window to 2 seconds.

The Mana Shield Chaos Perk still comes at the cost of 99% of players' Max Life, creating a fairly significant risk for players to manage.

The Worst Changes in Diablo 4 Season 10's Patch Notes

Rogue's New Orphan Maker Unique Gets Nerfed

In an unfortunate turn of events, one of Diablo 4 Season 10's new Uniques is going from underwhelming to nearly unusable. The Rogue's Orphan Maker was already subject to skepticism in the PTR for Season 10, since the new Reload keyword it comes with adds a delay between skill casts in exchange for a damage boost. The delay from Reload didn't prove worth the trade-off for more damage, and now the Orphan Maker is reducing that damage even more with this change from the patch notes:

  • Previous: Basic and Core Skills that use this weapon now Reload. Reload Skills gain 250-300% increased damage and every 2nd Reload Skill gains twice this bonus.
  • Now: Basic and Core Skills that use this weapon now Reload. Reload Skills gain 250-300% increased damage and every 2nd Reload Skill increases this bonus by 50%[x] for 2 seconds.

Shroud of False Death Had a Helpful Bug Fixed

While not the end of the world, players will no longer be able to benefit from a bug with the Shroud of False Death Mythic in Diablo 4 Season 10. Typically, the Shroud of False Death grants +1 rank to all passives, but a bug in Season 9 made it so the Mythic gave all passives +2 ranks instead. The Mythic will now function as intended in Diablo 4 Season 10, but players hoping that this helpful bug will transfer to the new season will be disappointed.

Sorcerer's Galvanic Azurite Unique Loses a Powerful Synergy

One of the biggest losses of Diablo 4 Season 10 has yet to truly be felt, as the Sorcerer's new Galvanic Azurite Unique Ring has only been usable on the PTR so far. However, it offered a fantastic synergy with Crackling Energy, thanks to the +2-3 ranks to Elemental Synergies it added. The Elemental Synergies passive gives the Sorcerer a boost to skills of an elemental type based on how many of the element's skills they have equipped, meaning that additional ranks from the Galvanic Azurite could dramatically scale the damage of Crackling Energy for Sorcerers who go all-in on Lightning skills. Instead, the new patch notes detail the following changes:

  • +Ranks to Elemental Synergies removed.
  • Added + Ranks to Convulsions.

It's very possible that Lightning Sorcerers will still see a heyday in Diablo 4 Season 10, especially because the Charged Flash Legendary Aspect has been changed to give Crackling Energy a baseline 40-50% damage increase. However, until players can test out these changes in Diablo 4 Season 10 for themselves, it's unclear if the buff to Charged Flash will be able to make up for the removal of Elemental Synergy ranks from Galvanic Azurite.
