Diablo 4 Season 11 will remove the fog of war and unlock the full map for players who choose to skip the campaign, according to lead live game designer Colin Finer. This addition will be a huge quality-of-life improvement for veteran Diablo 4 players, especially those who return season after season.
Season 11 of Diablo 4 will be released on December 9, 2025, following the PTR, which ran back in October. Headlining Diablo 4 Season 11 are the Masterworking and Tempering changes, which not all players have been thrilled about so far. There are still a bunch of smaller changes coming to the game in Season 11, too, with Blizzard using the next month to fine-tune and get it right. While the community hasn't been too receptive to Season 11 so far, there's one change that all players will definitely be able to appreciate.
Diablo 4's Latest Event is All Treats, But Feels like a Trick
Diablo 4 Season 10 is doubling up on events this Halloween, but neither quite hit the mark for a spooky seasonal celebration.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Unlocks Full Map After Campaign Skip
Diablo 4 lead live game designer Colin Finer spoke to Koran creator DuQ in an interview, and was asked about the possibility of Waypoints persisting across characters and seasons. As it stands, players must rediscover all Waypoints at the start of every Diablo 4 season, which can be a massive time sink. This is especially frustrating for veteran players, who want to skip the busy work and delve into the seasonal offerings and endgame content as soon as possible. Finer has good news, saying, "So we are going to unlock Waypoints and the fog of war that protects those Waypoints if you skip Campaign. So if you skip Campaign in the base game, you get all the Waypoints and fog. If you skip the expansion 1, Vessel of Hatred, you will unlock all the Waypoints there as well."
There's no doubt that this is a significant Diablo 4 quality-of-life change. As a game, its strength has always been that many players return at the start of every season to create a new character, and this just makes it much easier to do so. Of course, those who still want the whole exploration experience can start the Campaign from scratch and not skip it.
...we are going to unlock Waypoints and the fog of war that protects those Waypoints if you skip Campaign.
Beyond Season 11, it's becoming increasingly rumored that Diablo 4 has something up its sleeve for The Game Awards this year. There's a belief in the community that Blizzard may finally reveal the game's second expansion, which is currently planned for release next year. With this in mind, it could be set to be an exciting few months for Diablo 4 fans, especially if Season 11 proves to be a success.
