Diablo 4 players are voicing their frustrations at the new Masterworking changes coming in Season 11. Some Diablo 4 players have already had the chance to try out Masterworking in the ongoing PTR, and many aren't happy with their experience.
Diablo 4's Masterworking changes were first teased earlier this month, as a way to refresh one of the game's crafting systems. It was unclear exactly what form this would take, until the 2.5.0 PTR revealed that players would now have to click their way through 20 ranks of upgrades to Masterwork their items. Only after progressing through these 20 ranks could players randomly upgrade one of the additional affixes on their item, which could also be re-rolled using a new crafting material called Neathiron. This reduced the overall effectiveness of Masterworking, and added a lot more clicking in the process.
Diablo 4's Latest Event is All Treats, But Feels like a Trick
Diablo 4 Season 10 is doubling up on events this Halloween, but neither quite hit the mark for a spooky seasonal celebration.
Diablo 4's Masterworking Changes in Season 11 PTR Aren't Going Down Well With Fans
Fans have been quick to share their thoughts on the Diablo 4 2.5.0 PTR, specifically the Masterworking changes. One online thread by user Nyksiko described the system as a "disaster," calling it "a boring chore you need in order to get that last GA lottery." Others claim it's a "boring alternative" to the current Masterworking system, which, while still featuring some RNG elements, still has "something interesting every 4 levels to see which affix your gamble hits."
Another Redditor named aspectofderp started a thread claiming that Diablo 4's Masterworking should be removed if it stays on this course, comparing it to "upgrading your potion every season. We do it but it is a formality and adds literally NOTHING to the game." Although the sentiment surrounding the upcoming Masterworking changes are pretty negative right now, it's worth noting that Blizzard still has time to make adjustments before Season 11 goes live in December. Hopefully, the feedback will be taken on board and acted upon, to reach a system players are much happier with in Season 11.
Diablo 4 Season 11 is expected to begin on December 9, after Season 10 concludes. However, rumors currently suggest that players might have even more to look forward to, with some suggestion that Diablo 4's second expansion could be revealed in December. Of course, this should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it's certainly an exciting prospect to consider, given the long wait since Vessel of Hatred.
