On launch, leveling in Diablo 4 was a bit of a tedious process, and it was daunting to start an alt or a secondary character thanks to the grind ahead. But as of Season 6, Diablo 4 leveling methods have become much easier – thanks in no small part to a major level squish that reduced the max level from 100 to 60.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred – Evade Spiritborn Build Guide
Arguably the most broken Diablo 4: Vesel of Hatred build, Evade Spiritborn melt enemies as they dash from pack to pack.
With the addition of The Pit and the Vessel of Hatred campaign, it's easier than ever to get a character to max level and get working on your Paragon levels. But if you don't feel like repeating the Diablo 4 story, or get tired of running The Pit, there are plenty of other ways to level fast in Diablo 4 whether you are trying to get to 60 or push for Paragon Points.
When going to farm XP, Diablo 4 players should ensure they have an XP buff active. These can be obtained by consuming any of the Alchemist's Elixirs or by using Incense (which both stack) for a small boost, or by using a seasonal Seething Opal for the max 15% buff.
Best Level 1 to 60 Leveling Methods In Diablo 4
Beat The Base D4 & Vessel of Hatred Campaigns
When you start a new character in Diablo 4: VoH, you will be asked if you want to skip the DLC campaign if you have already done so on another character. If you see this screen, do not skip the campaign – just about every main Diablo 4 quest grants an entire level's worth of XP, or close to it, making it far and away the fastest way to level in Diablo 4.
The best part of this best Diablo 4 leveling method is that you can set your Difficulty to the lowest setting (Normal) and breeze through because Difficulty does not affect quest XP. This is true for both the base and DLC campaigns.
Tread this familiar territory, but skip all cutscenes, to quickly level in the base game's main campaign storyline to get to around Level 30 or 40, depending on your active buffs and how much side content you pick up along the way. Then, head to the DLC story to get to level 60 and even start earning Paragon points before you beat Vessel of Hatred.
How To Get Runes in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred
To get Runes, Diablo 4 players must have the Vessel of Hatred DLC and progress through the main storyline to unlock the system first.
Take On Strongholds & Complete Whispers In Helltides
If for some reason you are not level 60 after beating both the base and DLC main quests, Strongholds and Helltides are a great way to catch up and get to max level in D4.
- Strongholds reward a huge chunk of XP the first time you complete each one, typically about half a level's worth. There are a bunch of new Strongholds in the DLC, too. This is the fastest non-Campaign method to level in Diablo 4, but it's best to wait until around Level 40 to start taking these on as an alternative.
- On their own, Helltides offer some of the highest enemies-per-square-inch in any endgame D4 content, and are great for farming XP the old fashioned way. But thanks to the Mystery caches that reward a chunk of XP when opened, and Whispers that can be completed alongside Helltides, you can double-dip on XP bonuses by turning in your Whispers and by collecting Cinders to open this highest-level cache.
Best D4 Endgame Leveling Methods (Paragon Points)
Run The Pit At A Manageable Tier
Once you reach max level in Diablo 4, you can still earn up to 300 Paragon Points to build passives on up to five Paragon Boards. You earn Paragon Points just like Leveling, except instead of a Skill Point (and instead of gaining a Level), you gain a Paragon Level. Paragon levels are shared across all characters, and slowly requires more and more XP to reach the next point.
At endgame when you have the Paragon system unlocked, the fastest way to earn more Paragon Points and max out your character is to take on The Pit. The Pit is extremely fast, very enemy-dense, and drops both Obols and lets you improve your Glyphs at the end. For optimal XP farming, stick to a Pit Tier that can be completed in about three to five minutes.
Diablo 4: Best Way to Farm Legendary and Unique Items
Legendary and Unique items offer the strongest power spikes players can get for their Diablo 4 builds. Here's one efficient way to farm for them.
Unlock Higher Torment Levels
When you run The Pit at certain Tiers, you will unlock higher Torment levels. If you increase your Difficulty level in Diablo 4, you will also increase the Gold and XP that enemies drop on defeat.
]If you can take the challenge, turn up your Torment level (and take on higher Tiers in The Pit) to boost the XP you gain from enemies significantly.
Infernal Hordes & Helltides Reward Great XP, Materials, & Other Items
If you are getting tired of running The Pit over and over again and would like a change of scenery without sacrificing too much XP per hour, consider switching over to Infernal Hordes and Helltides. Infernal Hordes give a huge chunk of XP on completion and a high chance to get high-level materials and gear, while Helltides have a huge number of enemies, events, and Whispers to farm for XP as well as Mystery chests that grant a chunk of XP when opened.
Though The Pit is the best leveling method in Diablo 4 for paragon points, Infernal Hordes and Helltides also drop other items that can be useful like Boss summoning materials, high-level ingredients, and more. You might make a little bit less XP with these two methods, but you'll be glad to have extra materials and the chance of pace.
