Every season, Diablo 4 players will want to try to farm for the game's rare Mythic gear from Lair Bosses, Helltides, and Infernal Hordes. While Diablo 4 Season 9 introduces some new gear for players to check out, one item remains a chase piece of gear for nearly every player. Although it will be hard for players to obtain, the Heir of Perdition is a great fit for nearly every Diablo 4 Season 9 build, following a tradition the Mythic has stuck to since its release.

Diablo 4 often has its meta overhauled by the introduction of new Unique and Mythic gear at the start of a new season. However, the release of Vessel of Hatred and the start of Season 6 saw some of the most game-changing Mythics, like the Shroud of False Death and the Heir of Perdition, added to the game. Since then, the Heir of Perdition has remained a staple of the game's best seasonal builds, and Diablo 4 Season 9's meta is no different, showing the Mythic is likely here to stay.

One Diablo 4 Season 9 Unique is the Clear Odd One Out

Diablo 4 Season 9's new uniques are some of the best the game has ever seen, but one among the group falls short of expectations.

Diablo 4's Heir of Perdition Mythic Remains One of the Best in Season 9

Heir of Perdition Has an Evergreen Affix

The Heir of Perdition comes with several affixes that can be applied near-universally, which is part of the reason it is so versatile among Diablo 4's best builds season after season. It's also a bit of an oddball when it comes to Diablo 4 Mythics, with a unique affix unlike anything else in the game.

  • Heir of Perdition
    • +200.0% Damage to Angels and Demons
    • +20.0% Critical Strike Chance
    • +20.0% Lucky Hit Chance
    • +20.0% Movement Speed
    • +2 to Core Skills
    • Unique Affix: Succumb to hatred and earn Mother's Favor, increasing your damage dealt by 60%[x]. Slaughter enemies to briefly steal Mother's Favor from surrounding allies.

Buffs to stats like Crit Chance, Lucky Hit Chance, and Movement Speed on top of +2 to Core Skills already make this Mythic a great choice for most Diablo 4 players. However, it's the Heir of Perdition's unique affix that is really eye-catching, as it essentially grants players a blanket 60%[x] increase to their damage, while increasing that percentage when playing in a group and stealing kills from other players who are also wearing the Mythic. Additionally, the +200% damage to Angels and Demons is also an interesting affix, marking another significant damage boost since most enemies Diablo 4 players are facing will be Demons.

What's also interesting is the fact that there are no Angel enemies currently in Diablo 4, meaning the Heir of Perdition could be teasing future content with this affix.

Diablo 4 Season 9's Best Builds Utilize the Heir of Perdition

With the Heir of Perdition's broad utility, it's not surprising to see it used on so many of Diablo 4 Season 9's best builds. In particular, builds that emphasize dealing damage from a specific Core Skill will get the most mileage out of the Mythic, since the +2 to Core Skills combined with the blanket damage multiplier is guaranteed to increase the Core Skill damage of a given class. Some of the best builds to use the Heir of Perdition on in Season 9 include:

  • Pulverize Druid
  • Shadowblight Necromancer
  • Chain Lightning Sorcerer

These builds use Core Skills like Pulverize, Blight, and Chain Lightning as the foundation of their damage, respectively, so it's clear to see why players would want to run the Heir of Perdition on them. Other builds may get some good usage out of the Heir of Perdition, and it is generally a good Mythic to have, but there may be other options that optimize a specific playstyle's damage output that end up being more useful than the Heir of Perdition in certain situations. While this Mythic remains widely applicable to builds in Diablo 4 Season 9, its value really transcends one season's meta and will likely remain one of, if not the best, Mythics in the game for seasons to come.
