As Diablo 4 gears up to celebrate its second anniversary this month, Blizzard has confirmed that a dedicated in-game event is on the way. While specific details are still under wraps, this Diablo 4 event should come with new themed rewards to celebrate Blizzard’s ARPG as it enters its third year.

Diablo 4 launched in June 2023, taking players back to Sanctuary and introducing, for the first time in the franchise, a large open world players can discover together in online multiplayer. In June 2024, Diablo 4 launched a themed event to celebrate its first anniversary. This time-limited event offered bonuses like increased Treasure Goblin spawns and free cosmetic elements, as well as the return of Mother’s Blessing, granting players experience and gold boosts. Diablo 4’s first-anniversary event lasted from June 6 to June 20, leaving players to wonder what Blizzard has up its sleeve for its ARPG’s second anniversary.

Adam Fletcher, Diablo’s director of social and content marketing, recently confirmed that there will be a second-anniversary event for Diablo 4. Fletcher also mentioned that players will get access to a free Reliquary as part of the festivities. Introduced with the release of Diablo 4 Season 8, Reliquaries give players more ways to earn cosmetic items as they defeat monsters throughout Sanctuary. This new free Reliquary linked to the release of Diablo 4’ s second-anniversary event should bring themed rewards for players to collect, although exact details remain scarce. According to Fletcher, more information about Diablo 4’s second-anniversary event will be announced in the coming days.

This anniversary tease follows recent updates about Diablo 4 Season 9 endgame content. Players can discover new endgame dungeons titled Escalating Nightmares, putting them in a chain of three Nightmare Dungeons with stacking affixes, increasing the difficulty as players progress. At the end of the three dungeons, players will face the Exalted version of Astaroth. The launch of Diablo 4 Season 9 and the second-anniversary event should bring more content for players to discover in the upcoming weeks, hopefully leading to more content updates throughout Diablo 4’s third year.
