Summary
- Players favor keeping the overpowered Spiritborn class in Diablo 4, citing fun as the primary reason.
- Rod Fergusson hints at potential fixes for Spiritborn class balancing issues but stresses the distinction between fix and nerf.
- Immediate major changes to the Spiritborn class in Diablo 4 are not likely, emphasizing the importance of player enjoyment.
Diablo 4 boss Rod Fergusson has addressed the possibility of Blizzard making any changes to the Spiritborn class. The Spiritborn was added as part of Diablo 4's new Vessel of Hatred DLC, although many gamers have found it to be extremely overpowered.
Despite being as overpowered as it is, there's a reason plenty of gamers are choosing to play as a Spiritborn in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. It's the first entirely new class in the series in a decade, the last being Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls' Crusader. This alone is exciting enough, and the fact that it's an absolute blast makes it a necessity for any players picking up the expansion to give Spiritborn a try. Playing as the Spiritborn offers fast-paced, close-quarters combat, but it seems that Blizzard hasn't quite balanced the power of the class just yet.
Diablo 4 Players Want Season 6 Feature to Be Permanent
Diablo 4 players are loving one of the new features introduced in Season 6, and now ask Blizzard to keep it in the game permanently.
Fergusson began the open conversation with a "non-binding poll," querying whether players would prefer the Spiritborn to be balanced in line with other Diablo 4 classes, or left as is "because you're having fun." Predictably, 63.1% of gamers voted to keep the Spiritborn in its current overpowered state, although, in a follow-up tweet, Fergusson claimed that while he's "not saying we're doing anything" right now, any class that has only been out for three weeks "is going to have some issues that need to be addressed."
Diablo 4 May Make Changes to the Spiritborn Class
Fergusson did stress the big difference between the terms "fix" and "nerf," with any potential changes to the Spiritborn being seen as a fix to bring it to the place it should have been at launch. In a further response to another gamer, he also pointed out that "when millions of players are having fun, there's a lot more to take into consideration." By the sounds of it, those using the Spiritborn to make some of the most overpowered Diablo 4 builds will be able to do so for some time yet. There are certainly no major changes imminent, even if long-term, there's a view to some fixes for the class.
Overall, gamers seem to be enjoying Diablo 4's Season 6. There's enough content to keep gamers coming back for more, even those who have maxed out characters in previous seasons, too. Soon, Diablo 4's 2024 Halloween event is set to begin, which will give players access to some free spooky goodies as well as a limited-time event called Meat or Treat. It's a fun time to get involved in the game, even for those who have never played Diablo 4.
