Summary
- Dino Crisis is on PS Plus Premium, but lacks any trophies to unlock.
- Fans are disappointed by the absence of trophies in Capcom games on PS Plus.
- Future updates may address the lack of trophies for Dino Crisis and Resident Evil.
Dino Crisis has debuted on PS4 and PS5 through the Premium tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service, but it has come without any trophies to unlock. Dino Crisis is just the latest Capcom game to be added to PS Plus Premium. In fact, Dino Crisis' survival-horror cousin was one of the first games ever added to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus.
Back when Sony introduced the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus, it did so with a handful of retro games for subscribers to check out. This included the surprise addition of the original Resident Evil game, though at the time, some fans were disappointed that it didn't have any trophies to unlock. PlayStation has retroactively been adding trophies to some of the retro PS Plus Premium games that have launched without them, but the original Resident Evil has yet to receive any. And unfortunately, Dino Crisis is also without trophies.
PS Plus Subscribers Have Incredible Bonus to Look Forward to on October 28
PlayStation Plus subscribers, especially those who fancy themselves ARPG fans, have an incredible bonus to look forward to on October 28.
Fans have voiced their disappointment about the lack of trophies to unlock in Dino Crisis, and it's a real shame that this is continuing the unfortunate trend of Capcom PS Plus Premium games lacking trophy support. Other third-party games have added trophy support on PlayStation Plus, like the TimeSplitters trilogy, for example, and so it's unclear what exactly is stopping these classic Capcom titles from doing the same.
Dino Crisis is Missing Trophies on PlayStation Plus
Not only has Dino Crisis launched without trophies, but it's also currently blocked behind a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Some of the retro games added as part of the PS Plus lineup can actually be purchased separately, but Dino Crisis can not, for reasons that have not been explained. This is also a bummer, and hopefully, future games are able to avoid these mistakes by including trophy support and giving players the option to buy them on their own without having to sign up for a PlayStation Plus subscription.
It's always possible that these issues will be addressed in future updates. As previously mentioned, some PS Plus games have received trophy support some odd months after they debuted on the service, and so the same could certainly happen for Dino Crisis and Resident Evil. For now, though, it seems that the trend of Capcom PlayStation Plus games launching without trophy support will continue.
It will be interesting to see if other third-party PS1 classics added to PS Plus Premium have trophy support or skip out as well. We don't know everything coming to the service in the near future, but we do know that Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is coming to Premium before the end of the year. Whether it has trophy support remains to be seen.
