Disco Elysium-The Final Cut: How to Sing Karaoke

Disco Elysium is an RPG filled with quirky charm and surreal wit. Players step into the bright green shoes of a disgraced detective who's had a bout of amnesia in the middle of a murder case. The attribute system in Disco Elysium affects the ways the main character interacts with the citizens of Martinaise and the world itself. Putting skill points into one part of the main character's mind makes it more talkative while revealing hidden secrets about the detective's past.

This leads to some bizarre and interesting asides from the main murder mystery like singing a song in the main hub hotel. Here's how to sing a round of karaoke at the Whirling In Rags.

Inspect the Microphone at Night

There is a small stage set up near the stairs at the Whirling In Rags. During the evening there is a disco ball that will light up the room. When the room is lit up the main character will find himself drawn to sing some karaoke, but he doesn't know what to sing yet.

Cross the Canal on Day 3

There is a sign blocking the canal crossing for the first two days of the murder case hindering exploration of the southwestern coastline. On Day 3 a crew of workers will arrive and clear out the debris. Use the control panel nearby to pull the lever and close the water lock.

Find the Tape

Once players have crossed the canal they need to find a small shack at the southwestern-most point of the map. The small dilapidated building has a swing-set next to it and a box covered in tarp behind it. Walking near to the box should bring up a prompt indicating that the box contains an abandoned music collection. Click the box again to pick up the tape titled "The Smallest Church in Saint-Saens."

Buy a Boombox

With the song in hand the player needs a boombox to play the tape to see if it's the correct song. The tape player can be purchased at the Pawn Shop directly north of the canal for 12 reál. If the player has started the Doorgunner Megamix task they can haggle the price down to 4.

Play the Tape

Once the player has the boombox they need to open their inventory to the interact tab to play it. The main character will realize this is the song that he wants to sing, and the tape conveniently has an instrumental track ready for karaoke.

Convince Garte

Return to the Whirling In Rags and speak with Garte the cafeteria manager. This works best if the player has remained up to date with paying him for the damages and spending a night at the hotel. Convince him that the karaoke stage is for customers and that includes the main character.

Sing the Song

Save before attempting to sing as it involves a red skill check, which means it cannot be retried if failed. The check itself is a level 13 drama check. If the player does not have enough skill points for a good percentage roll they can level up and come back later. There are also a few items of clothing with drama bonuses such as the Bow Knot Necktie or the Party Dragon's Silk Robe. Do not select the choice to test the microphone as this will add a -1 modifier to the skill check. Successfully complete the check to sing karaoke. The day and time will change who is in the hotel to hear the song so keep that in mind before proceeding.
