If you were lucky enough to snag a Switch 2 and are looking for an extra controller, you'll want to check out this deal. Right now, Best Buy has the Switch 2-compatible GameSir Super Nova controller marked down to just $30 as part of its Black Friday in July sale.

This saves you a cool $20 off its list price and a whopping $55 compared to the official Switch 2 Pro Controller, which is fantastic value considering the Super Nova packs more features, including drift-free Hall Effect joysticks. Plus, it comes in a Best Buy-exclusive red and white colorway that looks right at home next to a Nintendo Switch.

Your favorite Switch controllers and accessories will work on Switch 2, but there's a catch.

What’s Great About the GameSir Super Nova Controller?

The Super Nova packs a lot of features for a controller that costs $50 at MSRP. It works with both the original Switch and the new Switch 2, but the biggest highlight here is its Hall Effect joysticks and triggers. If you want to avoid the dreaded stick drift, this controller is a perfect choice, especially since neither the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons nor the official Pro Controller use anti-drift Hall Effect sticks.

It also features rumble, wake-to-sleep functionality, and gyroscope motion controls for supported games, plus interchangeable face buttons that let you switch between Xbox and Switch layouts. Compared to the Switch 2 Pro controller, you're only missing Amiibo support and 3.5mm audio passthrough, which is a reasonable sacrifice considering you're saving a massive $55.

The GameSir Super Nova works across PC, Android, and iOS devices, and it comes with other competitive gaming features beyond just Hall Effect sensors. Its triggers include physical trigger stops, allowing you to toggle between mouse-click speed for FPS games and full analog control for precise inputs in racing games. Combined with programmable back buttons, this makes one of the best controllers for competitive play.

While the red/white color scheme is exclusive to Best Buy, the rest of the design is similar to the other Super Nova variants. You still get swappable faceplates, subtle RGB lighting, and a color-matched charging dock. It's also compatible with the GameSir app, allowing for easy customizations for the back buttons, dead zones, lighting, and more.

Buy Today and Save a Whopping 40%

At its $50 MSRP, the GameSir Super Nova already delivers excellent value compared to pricier options like the Switch Pro controllers. With this deal in play, you can take an extra $20 off, making it one of the best Switch controllers under $50. Sure, there are sacrifices to be made, but you save a lot of money while getting 70% of the functionality of the Switch 2 Pro controller.

For alternatives, the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C is our only other recommendation around the $30 price point. This gamepad has incredibly low latency, making it ideal for highly competitive games. It also works with Switch 2 and includes anti-drift Hall effect joysticks, gyro, and rumble. However, unlike the GameSir Super Nova, it does not include a charging dock.

That said, if you can stretch your budget and want the absolute best Switch controller, we recommend the official Switch 2 Pro Controller, now available for $85 at Best Buy.
