Scramblecoin is a board game released as part of the Rift in Time expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley. It allows players to take on the various Disney villagers from across the valley to become the ultimate Scramblecoin master.
The game is played with small figurines resembling different Disney characters. Each figurine has a different movement style and some have certain abilities. Some figurines are better than others, so here are eight particularly noteworthy choices when it comes to the best Scramblecoin figurines.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: All Scramblecoin Pieces & How to Unlock Them
Scramblecoin is a new game mode introduced in Dreamlight Valley's A Rift in Time DLC.
A few different factors will be considered, such as how good the figurine's range of movement is, any special abilities they might have, when they can enter the game, and how well they can maneuver the game board (as there are obstacles that change each game).
8 Ralph
Unlocked by Ranking Up
- In-game special ability description: “Destroys all surrounding obstacles at the end of his movement.”
- Entry Point: Borders
- Play Condition: None
- Movement: Three spaces in a straight direction
As mentioned, the Scramblecoin game board will change with each game. Rocks and fences randomly appear and block the way for players, but some figurines can destroy certain objects. Ralph is a particularly useful destroying figurine, as he can destroy both rocks and fences.
Ralph also has good maneuverability, as he can move three spaces per turn. This is offset by the fact that he can only move in a straight line, but his ability to destroy every item more than makes up for it.
7 Scrooge McDuck
Unlocked Immediately
- In-game special ability description: “Gets one extra coin at the end of each turn.”

- Movement: Two spaces in any direction
Scrooge McDuck is a beginning figurine that players can access after completing Mickey’s “A Game of Coins” mission, which introduces the Scramblecoin game and its mechanics. He is useful to keep around though, as his range of movement is pretty good, and he can turn the tide of a game with his special.
Scrooge can only enter the game from a corner position, but he can then move two spaces diagonally or in straight lines. His special allows him to pick up extra coins when his turn ends. Seeing as the goal of Scramblecoin is to collect more coins than the opponent, this can be a super useful ability and can even win the game if used strategically.
6 Cogsworth/Lumiere
Unlocked by Ranking Up
- No special abilities

- Play Condition: None
- Movement: Cogsworth: One space in any direction, two spaces in a straight direction. Lumiere: One space in any direction, two spaces in a diagonal direction
Cogsworth and Lumiere are being put into one entry here as they are basically the same. The only difference is that Cogsworth moves in straight lines while Lumiere moves diagonally. Players can choose which of the two is better suited to go with their other figurines.
These two Beauty and the Beas t figurines have an impressive range of movement, as they can both move three spaces at a time. The first move can be anywhere, but, as mentioned, Cogsworth can then only move in a line and Lumiere will only move diagonally. Neither character has a special ability, but they make the list as their significant movement abilities don’t limit them as much as other figurines when it comes to picking up coins.
5 Anna/Kristoff

- Movement: Anna: One space in a straight direction, three times. Kristoff: One space in a diagonal direction, three times.
Much like Cogsworth and Lumiere, this cute couple from the Frozen franchise are paired up thanks to how similar they are in terms of movement. They are also similar to Cogswoth and Lumiere in that the only difference between them is that one moves straight while another moves diagonally.
Anna and Kristoff are another pair of figurines with great movement, as they can move three times (Anna in a straight line and Kristoff diagonally). However, their movement is much less limiting than other figurines, as each move is individual, so even though Anna has to move straight and Kristoff has to move diagonally, they can change direction as their turn progresses.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Play Scramblecoin (A Game of Coins Quest)
Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time added a mini-game called Scramblecoin, and here is everything to know about it.
Their movement options make them an excellent choice when it comes to taking short and fast turns to collect coins in a small area, but it also makes them excellent at blocking the opponent's figurines quickly and efficiently. Anna can be unlocked via the ranking system, which distributes figures randomly as players rank up by playing Villagers in the game. However, Kristoff has to be crafted at the Timebending Table when the Hourglass has been upgraded to level two. Here’s what is needed to make him.

4 EVE
Unlocked by Ranking Up
- In-game special ability description: “Jump (Move directly to the target tile, ignoring anything in between).”

- Movement: Eight spaces in any direction
The pretty and polished EVE from the WALL-E movie can move the most spaces of any figurine, as she can move up to eight spaces. Not only that, but EVE’s special ability allows her to jump tiles to avoid any obstacles or figurines in her path.
EVE’s only limitation is that she can’t be played until the second turn, so players will need to strategize to ensure they have a suitable team composition to make up for her lack of ability in the first turn. Her range of motion is extensive, and she can’t be limited by the board's layout thanks to that Jump skill, making EVE one of the best Scramblecoin figurines.
3 Gaston
Unlocked by Ranking Up
- In-game special ability description: “Charge (Movement continues until an obstacle or the side of the board is hit.”

- Play Condition: None
- Movement: All the way in any kind of direction
Despite Gaston being a creep of a character, his Scramblecoin figurine is one of the best in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Gaston has a special Charge ability wherein when he begins moving, he will keep going until he hits the side of the board or an obstacle. He isn’t the only figurine that can do this, but he is the most versatile, as he can move in any direction rather than only straight or diagonally.
Gaston can collect a huge amount of coins because of his ability to traverse the entirety of the board if there are no obstacles in his path. One of the best ways to use him is to pair him up with a figurine that can destroy obstacles - such as Ralph, Pumbaa, or Stitch - so he can move around the board more freely.
2 Sulley
Unlocked by Ranking Up
- In-game special ability description: “Pushes away nearby opposing figurines by two tiles at the end of his movement. If the opposing figurine is pushed onto a time with a coin, the player collects the token(s).”

- Play Condition: None
- Movement: Three spaces in a straight direction
The big, blue Monster’s Inc boy Sulley has one of the best special abilities of all the figurines in Scramblecoin, as he can quickly start racking up coins from both his own movement and from his enemies. At the end of his turn, Sulley will push away any nearby figurines. This includes figurines from the enemy team and ally figurines. Any coins collected by the pushed figurines will go straight into the player's total coin count when Sulley’s turn ends.
Not only can Sulley collect coins from allies and enemies with his special ability, but he can also jump into a game at any time. His range of movement isn’t too bad either, as he can move three spaces, though only in a straight direction.
1 Rapunzel

- In-game special ability description: “Collects up to three coins from adjacent tiles at the end of her movement.”
- Entry Point: Anywhere
- Play Condition: Turn three
- Movement: One space in any direction
Last but not least is the Disney princess and heroine of the Tangled film Rapunzel, who only just beats Sulley for the top spot as, although she can’t enter the game until turn three, she can be placed anywhere on the game board.
Rapunzel’s special ability allows her to collect up to three coins from the tiles that surround her, so even though she only moves one space per turn, she can collect lots of coins as she goes. As mentioned, she can only jump into the game in turn three, but this isn’t necessarily a negative point, as more coins will appear as the game progresses. The more coins on the board, the more Rapunzel can collect from around her position. Even her one-space-per-turn movement ability isn’t too bad, as she can move in any direction.
Rapunzel’s versatile movement and special ability come together to make her one of the absolute strongest Scramblecoin figures in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
