Disney Dreamlight Valley has consistently included holiday-themed events since the game’s launch in 2022. From trick-or-treating to wintery gift giving, Disney Dreamlight Valley includes not only great holiday-themed gift giving for these new events, but new holiday-themed items in the season’s Star Path. While Disney Dreamlight Valley tends to do large updates in preparation for a new season rather than smaller refreshes throughout a season of the game, Disney Dreamlight Valley could up its holiday festivities by including a new event based on one celebration in particular.

There is some precedent for this celebration in Disney Dreamlight Valley already. With a few pre-existing items already available in the game, it makes perfect sense for Disney Dreamlight Valley to expand New Year's and New Year's Eve festivities into a full-blown event of some kind.

Ring in the New Year in Disney Dreamlight Valley

This past New Years Day, Disney Dreamlight Valley added a new premium bundle to its Premium Shop to celebrate 2025. The New Year Celebration Bundle includes a Party Confetti Machine, a Party Photo Backdrop, a Party Disco Ball, and a Neon Symbol Sign shaped like Mickey Mouse. These furniture items can be hung up by players wherever they’d like around the Valley or in the game’s new Floating Islands to create their own pseudo-celebration of the New Year.

One of the most memorable aspects of any New Year's celebration is fireworks. Fortunately for players who would like to ring in the new year, Disney Dreamlight Valley has a couple of firework items in the game. The most obvious example is the Fireworks Mount, which was added in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift in Time expansion. This craftable furniture item is part of the Eternity Isle Crafting and Furniture Sets Collections.

Players also had the chance to obtain Stage Fireworks during the Night Show Star Path if they purchased the Premium Rewards track. This Tier 4 item is interactive and triggers a small fireworks animation that functions indoors and outdoors. If players missed out on the Night Show Star Path or don’t have the Rift in Time expansion, they can spend 1,200 Moonstones in the Premium Shop to buy a Fireworks Display from Scrooge McDuck himself.

While the New Year Celebration Bundle and Disney Dreamlight Valley’s various firework items are available for players who would like to celebrate the new year with their favorite simulation game, this method is a tad lackluster in comparison to other holiday celebrations in the game. The New Year Celebration Bundle was also released after New Year's Eve, well after when festivities tend to occur. Fortunately for Gameloft and Disney, another hit simulation game could serve as inspiration for a New Year's Eve event in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Animal Crossing's Fireworks Show Could Inspire Disney Dreamlight Valley's New Year's Celebrations

While Animal Crossing’s Fireworks Show is not exclusively a New Year's celebration, the festivities could certainly be a great model for Disney Dreamlight Valley. The Fireworks Festival became an Animal Crossing tradition in its first installment, with fireworks exploding throughout town every Saturday throughout August.

The Fireworks Festival has remained a summer festivity in Animal Crossing titles, but the game notably also shoots off fireworks at the end of its New Year's Eve countdown. Like Animal Crossing, Disney Dreamlight Valley is synced to a player’s real world local time. Shooting off fireworks at midnight on New Year's Day is a small, but memorable way to celebrate an upcoming year that could boost realism in the game and expand the holiday.

If Disney Dreamlight Valley truly wanted to emulate Animal Crossing, Scrooge could essentially take over the role Redd holds during the Fireworks Show. Players could stumble across Scrooge selling fireworks, which they could shoot off alongside the programmed fireworks animations at midnights. Other objects like confetti cannons or party poppers could be great items for this hypothetical feature.

With so much content in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it's understandable that not every single holiday gets its own full-fledged event. But as players venture into 2025, perhaps Disney Dreamlight Valley could consider how it will celebrate 2026.
