Disney Dreamlight Valley's Treasure Hunt Event Should Be…

2025 has been the year of events in Disney Dreamlight Valley. In addition to adding new content to returning events, Disney Dreamlight Valley has debuted three brand-new events: Lucky You, Cheshire Cat Chaos, and the recently released Treasure Hunt. The Treasure Hunt event, which celebrates Peter Pan's arrival in the Valley, is a vast improvement over previous events due to its minimal grinding and login requirements, making it a template that other games' events should follow in the future.

Previous New Events In 2025 Required Heavy Commitment

The previous Lucky You and Cheshire Cat Chaos events caused some frustration for Disney Dreamlight Valley due to how labor-intensive they were and how regularly players had to log in. Lucky You required collecting Clovers, with rare Four-Leaf Clovers spawning at a very low rate - and all the event's rewards required Four-Leaf Clovers to earn or craft them. Cheshire Cat Chaos was particularly rough, as players had to log in nearly every day during the event if they wanted to have any hope of earning rewards.

The Cheshire Cat Chaos event consisted of multiple tasks players had to complete. They had to find Cheshire Cat footprints in the various Disney and Pixar film-themed Realms, with which Realm the footprints appeared in changing every few days. In the Valley itself, players were required to collect Memory Orbs to complete an image of the Cat causing mischief. The full Memory required ten pieces to complete, and players reported an extremely high rate of receiving duplicate Orbs during the event. Disney Dreamlight Valley players who wanted to earn all the Cat's rewards found themselves needing to log in constantly during the two-week event.

The Treasure Hunt Event Is A Relief For Players Frustrated By The Grind

Like Cheshire Cat Chaos, Peter Pan's Treasure Hunt is a two-week event that requires players to complete a Memory by finding Orbs scattered around the Valley. However, it is much simpler and straightforward compared to the previous event. The Memory consists of only four pieces, and a recent Disney Dreamlight Valley update greatly decreased the chance of players receiving duplicate Memory Orbs in the game. Plus, the glowing cracks that point to the locations of the Memory Orbs are shiny and gold, much easier to see than the darker pink cracks used by the Cheshire Cat.

The Treasure Hunt event still does require players to log in at least four times during the two weeks, as only one piece of the treasure map Memory can be obtained per day. However, four logins over two weeks is much more forgiving than the grind-heavy Lucky You and Cheshire Cat Chaos, which punished players for skipping even a day or two of gameplay during their respective events. In addition, players receive a small reward for obtaining two of the four Memory Orbs, rather than all rewards being locked behind completing entire large tasks.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Treasure Hunt Event could serve as a blueprint for future events in both this and other games. It avoids FOMO, doesn't force players to log in every single day, and features minimal grind while still offering a unique game mechanic and cool rewards that players can collect. With Disney Dreamlight Valley focusing so heavily on events and 2025 and presumably in future years as well, developer Gameloft would do well to base upcoming events on the Treasure Hunt model, rather than the labor-intensive Cheshire Cat Chaos. Now that Peter Pan and his love of adventure have come to the Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley could even hold regular mini treasure hunts like the current one to obtain a variety of cool exclusive rewards.
