Disney Lorcana's six Ink types each represent a different kind of character, and Amber Ink is characterized by cards that play a supportive role. Singers, bodyguards, sidekicks, and really anyone who's loyal and steadfast can fit into this category which, at the moment, consists of 34 unique cards. Figuring out the best Amber Ink cards can be difficult because best doesn't simply mean strongest. Building a good deck in Lorcana requires players to use a mixture of expensive, strong cards and cheaper, weak cards. Here are some great Amber cards to keep an eye out for that fulfill both categories.

For each Disney Lorcana card below, players will find the card's name, its Ink cost, its Rarity (how common it is to find in booster packs), its Strength (how much damage it does when challenging), its Willpower (how much damage it can sustain before being banished), its Lore value (how much Lore it gains from Questing, and any special abilities it has).

Lorcana Amber Cards - Moana, Of Motunui

lorcana moana of motunui
  • Name: Moana, Of Motunui
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Cost: 5 Ink
  • Strength: 1
  • Willpower: 6
  • Lore: 3
  • Abilities:
    • We Can Fix It - When Moana, Of Motunui Quests, all other Princess characters are Readied (but can't quest for the rest of the turn).

This entry should come as no surprise to anyone who's familiar with Amber Ink cards in Lorcana. Moana, Of Motunui is an incredibly powerful card and only costs five Ink to play. Though her Strength is nothing to write home about, she has six Willpower making her very survivable and earns three Lore every time she quests. To make matters even better, her ability We Can Fix It Readies all other Princess characters whenever Moana, Of Motunui quests.

This means players can safely use their Princess characters to quest before readying them again with Moana, Of Motunui. Since players can only Challenge cards that are Exerted, this keeps them safe turn after turn allowing players to rack up a ton of Lore very quickly. Alternatively, players could instead use an action of a Princess card twice in one turn, or Quest and use an action. For decks built around Princess cards, Moana, Of Motunui is a must-have. Thankfully, she comes included in the Amber and Amethyst Lorcana starter deck.

Lorcana Amber Cards - Ariel, Spectacular Singer

lorcana ariel spectacular singer
  • Name: Ariel, Spectacular Singer
  • Rarity: Super Rare
  • Cost: 3 Ink
  • Strength: 2
  • Willpower: 3
  • Lore: 1
  • Abilities:
    • Singer 5 - Counts as cost 5 when singing songs
    • Musical Debut - Look at the top four cards of the deck and take a song card. Put the rest back at the bottom of the deck.

As her name implies, Ariel, Spectacular Singer is truly amazing at singing songs. Though she only costs three Ink to play, she is able to sing songs as though she were cost five instead. Notably, this covers every single song in Disney Lorcana's First Chapter from every single Ink Type except for Be Prepared. This makes Ariel an incredibly versatile character that can bring out certain powerful songs a lot sooner than they'd normally be seen in a game.

Players shouldn't expect Ariel to bring much to the table in terms of Strength, Willpower, or Lore, but her ability to easily draw a song card and then play it for free by Exerting is certainly nothing to laugh at. Notably, since Ariel is a Princess character, she can be Exerted to sing a song for free and then Readied again when Moana, Of Motunui Quests. At this point she could theoretically sing a second song for free. Depending on what songs the player has in their deck, this card could be used in a lot of interesting ways.

Lorcana Amber Cards - Hakuna Matata

lorcana hakuna matata
  • Name: Hakuna Matata
  • Rarity: Common
  • Cost: 4 Ink (Or Exert a Character of Cost 4 or Less)
  • Effect:
    • Remove 3 damage from all friendly characters

Speaking of songs, Hakuna Matata is one of the best songs in the Amber card set. Players can spend four Ink to play this card as normal or Exert any character with a cost of four or more to sing it for free. The card's effect is a massive group heal, removing up to three damage from every single Character card the player has out on the field. If the opponent has been spreading damage out among a lot of cards, this can be even more useful.

Of course, many Amber Cards like Ariel, Spectacular Singer above have the Singer ability, meaning it should be even easier to get this song out onto the field. There are other effects that can heal like Healing Glow or the Dinglehopper Item, but none do it quite as well as the Hakuna Matata song.

Lorcana Amber Cards - Hades, Lord Of The Underworld

lorcana hades lord of the underworld
  • Name: Hades, Lord Of The Underworld
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Cost: 4 Ink
  • Strength: 3
  • Willpower: 2
  • Lore: 1
  • Abilities:
    • Well Of Souls - When this card is played, take a character from the Discard Pile and add it to the Player's hand.

Though it may seem strange to see Hades, Lord Of The Underworld as an Amber card, once players understand his ability it makes more sense. Well Of Souls allows Hades, Lord Of The Underworld to pull a card out of the player's Discard Pile and add it to their hand, effectively reviving a card. The ability to pull cards out of the Discard Pile is incredibly important in Lorcana for two main reasons.

First, if players build their deck strategy around a card like Moana, Of Motunui, losing that card can be a devastating blow. Hades, Lord Of The Underworld can bring it back and keep the deck on track. What's more, aside from winning after reaching 20 Lore, players can actually lose Lorcana by running out of cards in their deck. Every time Hades, Lord Of The Underworld is played, he effectively gives the player one extra turn if the game has turned into a battle of attrition.

Lorcana Amber Cards - Honorable Mentions

lorcana heihei mickey mouse maximus

All of these are really strong examples of Amber cards, but there are a few others that are worth mentioning as well. Heihei, Boat Snack is a great example of this, as he is probably the best cost 1 card in the Amber set. He can be played easily, can be added to Lorcana's Inkwell, has decent survivability for a cost 1 card, and continues to be useful after other cards come out thanks to his Support ability.

Mickey Mouse, True Friend is probably the most balanced card in the entire game. With an Ink cost of three, players get a solid all-rounder with three Strength, three Willpower, and two Lore. He can even be added to the Inkwell if needed.

Finally, Maximus, Palace Horse is the best bruiser in the Amber card set. Though this card is on the more expensive side at five Ink cost, players get a four Strength five Willpower card with impressive abilities. Bodyguard ensures Maximus, Palace Horse can protect other vulnerable cards, and Support allows Maximus to add a staggering four Strength to another card whenever he Quests. This can make even a card like Heihei, Boat Snack a force to be reckoned with.
