Once you unlock Disney Pixel RPG’s Rarity Up later in the game by completing more chapters, you can enhance each character’s star level. However, the process can be overwhelming due to the many overlapping methods for upgrading characters. Disney Pixel RPG’s Rarity Up Feature Explained
Rarity Up lets you increase a character's star rating. Stars in Disney Pixel RPG indicate a unit's rarity, and more stars mean better stats. By default, characters can have one to three stars, but using this function, you can enhance them to five stars—the highest in the game.
How to Increase a Unit’s Rarity
The Rarity Up function unlocks after defeating the second chapter's boss. Once you reach this point, you can access the Character Upgrade Menu and spend Orbs to increase a unit's star rating. The game features three types of Orbs: Truth, Kindness, and Justice. You will need more of these items for each subsequent star upgrade in Rarity Up.
How to Get Rarity Up Orbs
- Collect Orbs by completing Expeditions.
- Create Orbs in the Crafting menu using Truth Orb Fragments and Upgrade Pixels.
- Some Bonus Stages, like 2-1, allow you to farm Rarity Up Orbs.
- Claim Job Center rewards to earn extra Orbs.
Increasing a character’s rarity also removes their upgrade limit. After the Rarity Up process, you can upgrade that unit by an additional ten levels using Upgrade Pixels. The ultimate level cap is 90, which can be reached with five-star units.
Tips for Making the Most of Rarity Ups
Keep these notes in mind before giving your characters additional stars:
- Invest your resources in three-star characters. One- and two-star characters won’t benefit as much from Rarity Up as three-star ones. If you choose to invest in lower-level units, opt for AoE options and damage dealers, like Carnival Mickey Mouse, who is one of the few two-stars worth the investment.
- Upgrade character rarity vertically. Focus on getting one character to five stars before moving on to the next. A horizontal upgrade strategy is less effective, as having one super-strong unit is generally better than multiple average ones.
- Prioritize ATK units when upgrading rarity. Area Damage dealers and Strikers are the best options for Rarity Up upgrades. Enhance units that deal the highest damage first to improve your chances of clearing tougher stages more quickly.
Rarity Up Vs. Limit Break
Limit Break provides a permanent stat boost to a unit and can be activated up to ten times for each character. To perform a Limit Break, you'll need Medals, which are duplicates of the same character. The first Limit Break also grants an additional skill effect, while the first two subsequent breaks enhance the character’s skill effect and reduce SP consumption.
When you perform a Rarity Up, you not only break a character’s upgrade cap but also unlock their EX Skill. For instance, if a character is at level 50 as a three-star unit, you can increase their level cap to 75 by giving them an additional star.
